Three days. Hundreds of kilometres. Endless smiles. ☀️🚴‍♂️

The LeBlanq Joyride Festival on the Isle of Wight was a reminder of why I do what I do.

Not to lift heavier weights.
Not to have bigger legs.
Not to spend more time in the gym.

But to be strong enough to fully enjoy experiences like this.

Long days in the saddle. Climbing without fear. Riding hard when you want to. Recovering well enough to do it all again the next day. Finishing each ride feeling like you've lived, not just survived.

That's what strength training should give cyclists.

The roads were spectacular. The weather couldn't have been better. The company was world-class. And spending three days riding, chatting, and sharing stories with fellow riders and sporting legends made it even more special.

This is what being fit, strong, and resilient after 40 is really about.

It's just winning medals!😉

Having the strength and confidence to say "yes" when opportunities like this come along.

I'll definitely be back.

🥇 British Champion. Again.

A huge congratulations to Cycle Strength athlete Matt Boulton, who successfully defended his title at the 2026 British Masters Track Championships in the Individual Pursuit.

Matt summed it up perfectly:

"Wasn’t a great ride (and the BC officials cost me a couple of seconds with a mistake!) but managed to defend my masters IP title. Onward to World Masters Champs in October now."

That's the mark of a true competitor. Even on a day that didn't feel perfect, he still found a way to win.

Success at this level isn't built in a single race. It's the result of months of consistent training, attention to detail, strength work, recovery, and turning up when it matters most.

Now the focus shifts to October and the World Masters Championships.

The work continues. 🚴‍♂️💪

Congratulations, Matt. Defending a national title is never easy.

Got a big weekend coming!☀️

This weekend I'm heading to the Isle of Wight to be a ride leader at the Joyride Festival with LeBlanq.

It's my first time riding on the island and I genuinely can't wait.

What am I most looking forward to?

A full lap of the Isle of Wight on Saturday.

The weather is looking absolutely glorious, and if the forecast is right we'll be treated to some of the best coastal roads in the UK. The famous Military Road has been on my cycling bucket list for years. Eleven miles of smooth tarmac, stunning sea views and enough scenery to make you forget how hard you're working. 😍

As much as I love talking about FTP, strength training and performance, weekends like this remind me why most of us started riding in the first place.

Adventure.
Freedom.
Great roads.
Great people.
And plenty of coffee stops. ☕🚴‍♂️

It also brings the opportunity to rub shoulders with Cycling A-Listers, Dani Rowe MBE, Greg Van Avermaet, Johan Museeuw and Orla Chennaoui

If you're heading to the festival, come and say hello. I'd love to meet you.

See you on the island! 🤙

STRENGTH TRAINING FOR CYCLISTS - WITHOUT THE GUESSWORK 💪

Most cyclists spend all winter building strength...

Then summer arrives.

The gym sessions disappear.
The bike miles increase.
And by August, they're wondering why they feel weaker than they did in spring.

Don't let that be you.

I'm opening the doors to Ascend Accelerator, a 4-week strength training programme designed specifically for cyclists.

Starting Monday 15th June, you'll get:

✅ Full access to the Cycle Strength App
✅ Structured strength workouts for cyclists
✅ Options for different equipment setups
✅ Video demonstrations for every exercise
✅ Support from me throughout the programme

All for just £55.

Whether your goal is to climb faster, ride further, improve resilience, or simply feel stronger on the bike, this programme will help you build the foundations that most riders neglect.

Here's what Ed had to say:

"Working with Andy has been a revelation, and I wish I had started doing regular weight training years ago. I feel so much stronger when climbing, and my posture is improved; no more niggling backaches. His programmes are easy to do at home with the minimum of equipment, and he readily adapts them for what you have."

Places are limited, and we start on Monday 15th June.

The strongest cyclists this autumn won't be the ones who stopped strength training when the weather improved.

They'll be the ones who kept showing up.

You’ve probably been comparing yourself to other cyclists out there, right?

It’s easy to do when you’re feeling stuck. When progress seems slow. When you look around and think, “Why isn’t it happening for me this year?”

Let me tell you this: You don’t have to wait until next year, or the year after, to make huge progress.

You CAN be hitting higher average speeds, riding longer distances, and flying up every climb — and you can do it this SUMMER.

If you act fast, we can get you started before the end of this month. That’s right — we’re in prime time to build momentum NOW.

Right now, I’m working with 40 committed cyclists who are all gunning for big rides and events this year. They want exactly what you want:

To be faster.

To go longer.

To feel unstoppable when they push their limits.

And guess what? They’re making it happen. They’re juggling jobs, family, and busy lives — but they’re moving forward, seeing progress every week. They're gearing up to crush their events, knowing they’ve done the work to make this their best season yet.

And YOU can do the same.

This isn’t just about dreaming of a better ride. It’s about making it happen, NOW.

Crushed it 💥

Danny Hopkin didn’t just ride the Dragon Grand Fondo in 2025… he finessed it.

Coming 145th out of 1,100 riders and landing top 10% on the infamous Rhigos climb, he showed up stronger, faster, and more resilient than ever — and credited our training framework for the structure and consistency behind his performance.

Here's what he had to say...

"I started working with Andy in summer 2024. I had some experience of strength training in the past but unlike my cycling training, I wasn’t periodising. It’s practically impossible to isolate strength training benefits from those that come from consistent on-the-bike training. However, I think that’s where Andy’s support has helped the most…if you can be consistent because you’re not injured, overreaching or generally more comfortable on a bike, you will get faster. Strength training facilitates that. I’ve got some useful tools and a framework to work within moving forward and I intend to keep being consistent with my strength work."

Thanks for letting me be part of your journey, Danny.

This is exactly what we train for: real-world strength that translates to time in the saddle, injury-free riding, and bloody brilliant results!

The gym is calling this summer!
And not for beach muscles.
For POWER, PERFORMANCE, and LONGEVITY on the bike 💥

Here’s why strength training with Cycle Strength is a game-changer 👇

1️⃣ More Power — stronger legs = faster climbs, harder sprints
2️⃣ Fewer Injuries — stable joints and bulletproof muscles keep you riding
3️⃣ Endurance Gains — build muscle that actually lasts through big rides
4️⃣ Tailored Plans — no guesswork, just results that fit your goals
5️⃣ Stronger Everywhere — balance out your body, fix imbalances, ride better

I build personalised gym plans for cyclists who want to ride faster, feel stronger, and stay in the game for years to come.

🔥 If you’re a cyclist who wants to get stronger, faster, and stay injury-free, the exact help you need is waiting inside my free Facebook group — Strength and Fitness Training for Cyclists.

"Do I sell the bike… or fight to keep riding it?"

Chris, 67, asked this in a cycling group last week.
The knees are creaking. The lungs are fading.
But the love for cycling? Still strong.

He’s got a stunning Trek Madone that he doesn’t want to let go… but also doesn’t want it sitting idle. Sound familiar?

Here’s the truth:
You don’t have to part with the bike.
You don’t have to push through pain.
And you definitely don’t have to give up on riding.

💪 With smart, age-appropriate strength training, you can:
• Support your knees and reduce pain
• Improve endurance through better posture & core strength
• Ride more confidently — even start cycling up the super steep bits again!

I coach riders in their 60s and 70s who thought their best days were behind them — until they trained smarter off the bike.

If you’re a cyclist over 40 looking to train smarter, get inside my free group for expert guidance and weekly coaching tips. Follow the Facebook Group link in my profile to join💪

❤️ Keep the bike. Keep the joy.
Futureproof your riding.

David is a 51-year-old cyclist from Aberdeen, Scotland, who first got into riding back in 2018.

What started with a Brompton quickly escalated into a full-blown road-cycling obsession. These days, David clocks 160 km a week commuting, mixes in structured Zwift training, and long weekend rides. He has his sights set on keeping up on group rides, dropping his mates in sprints and on climbs, and even tackling the Marmot or Etape du Tour this year.

Beyond the fitness, cycling plays a huge role in his mental health, something he openly acknowledges as a core driver behind why he rides.

After just seven weeks on Cycle Strength, David’s already leaner and his Zwift racing score jumped by over 100 points. He didn’t change anything else in his training — just added the strength work — and the results, in his own words, “speak for themselves.”
