What a weekend for Wolverhampton Canoe Club at the Sprint National Championships in Nottingham! 🛶🏆💙

We couldn’t be prouder of our paddlers. There’s been some fantastic racing, brilliant results and, most importantly, every one of them went out there and gave it everything.

🏆 Paul had a fantastic weekend, taking 1st place in the Over 54 K2 500m and becoming National Champion! He also stepped down to race with the youngsters in the Over 44 K4 500m, where he came away with a brilliant 3rd place. Proof that the old guard have still got a few tricks up their sleeves! 😂💪🥉

🏆 Sienna had a brilliant Championships, becoming Under 18 200m K1 National Champion and 500m K4 National Champion, as well as taking a fantastic 2nd place in the 500m K2. Some brilliant racing across the weekend and so much to be proud of! 💪

💙 Lydia faced some really tough competition this weekend and did brilliantly. She kept fighting, kept pushing and gave everything she had in every race. Medals and results never tell the whole story, and the determination she showed out on the water is something she should be really proud of.

🌟 Lexi had a fantastic weekend, becoming 5x Under 14 National Champion, winning all of her heats and finals along the way. She also finished off the weekend competing in the Mixed K2 500m and K4 500m.
To perform with that level of consistency across an entire National Championships is a fantastic achievement and something she should be incredibly proud of.

🛶 Tyler competed in his last regatta as a Mini Sprint paddler and gave it his all. He came second place overall in the Mini Sprint Class A🏅🏅🏅🏅.
It’s the end of one chapter in his paddling journey and the beginning of the next. It’s been brilliant watching him develop and I’m excited to see where he goes from here.

As coaches , we are obviously proud of the medals and National titles, but we are even prouder of the team behind them.

The hard work they’ve put into training, the determination when races get tough, the encouragement from the bank and the way they support one another are what make weekends like this so special.

We arrived in Nottingham as a team and we’re heading home with eight National Championship titles, a silver medal, a bronze medal, some fantastic racing and plenty of memories. 🏆🥇🥈🥉

This weekend 3 of our junior race team competed at the National Marathon Championships competing in both K1 and K2’s over the 2 days
K1’s
Lexi finished 3rd in the U14’s
Sienna 4th in U18’s
Lydia ( U16’s) completed the course after a swim

K2’s
Lexi and partner ( Agnes from Wey Cc)
came in 1st place U14’s
Sienna/Lexi 3rd place U18’s
Sienna/Brett (Royal Leamington Spa Cc)
came 18th ( out of 72) in the mixed K2
Unfortunately Lydia retired from the K2 race through injury

The girls did amazing, the club is proud of you all. Congratulations to the parents, coaches and volunteers at the club 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅👏👏👏👏👏👏

To top it all off Lexi has also been selected for the GB Development Team to compete at the French National Championships 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏

Great weekend of paddling … some of our junior girls competed at the National Marathon championships on the River Thamesand came away with medals…. Others had a more leisurely paddle down the Severn in the sunshine 🏅🏅🏅🏅☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️…..
Amazingly performance from the girls and a great day out for the leisure paddlers.

1st Sprint Regatta of 2026

Some of our junior sprinters were out in Nottingham last weekend for the first sprint regatta of 2026. Sienna, Lexi, Lydia, Tyler and Lexie battled through truly horrendous conditions — wind, rain and even hail — and still delivered outstanding performances.

Racing took place over 200m, 500m and 1000m across K1s, K2s and K4s, and our juniors brought home 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in a variety of events. A brilliant start to the season.

A huge congratulations to Sienna, whose strong performance at the April regatta has earned her selection into the Junior K1 Pool for 2026, as well as an invitation into the Junior crewboat selection process. Trials take place in April and May, and we’re all behind her — go smash it 💪🏻🛶
