Thames Basin Heaths Partnership

Thames Basin Heaths Partnership Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire. Three of the UK’s rarest birds nest here. It’s the nesting birds that give this land its legal protection.

Protecting the heaths of the Special Protection Area and promoting , local country walks that help protect the heaths. We’re a partnership of local councils, land managers and nature conservation bodies conserving the heathland of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. The Dartford Warbler, Nightjar and Wo

odlark rely on the heathland and nest on or near the ground, making them very vulnerable to disturbance. On this page we’re sharing the story of the heathland and bringing you news of , a conservation strategy to create dog-friendly local country walks that help protect heathland wildlife. We’d love you to fall in love with your local heathland and help secure its future by spreading the word about keeping to main paths, how to and . By looking after the birds, we can all play our part in making sure that protection stays in place. Protecting the birds protects the heaths. Protecting the heaths protects the birds.

The sounds of the forest!

A visit to the forest is a really sensory experience, especially on a quiet day when you can stop and focus fully. Not just of the forest wildlife, but of the forest itself. It's really quite soothing 😀

Captured on an iPhone which doesn't give the sounds justice! Why not experience it for yourself?

Warden Tim took this atmospheric photo at Brookwood Heath in recently. The dark skies and scattered showers really make the greens of the grass and trees ping!

What do all these gorgeous dogs have in common, can you guess?

They all walk on the and they all have guardians that care about the environment and protecting wildlife👍They are true !

Please join us in celebrating Maple, Violet, Gus and Dora, Ellie and Juno, Tigger and Athena 🐾 as they:

🏆Stick to main paths on the heaths during ground-nesting bird season
🏆Have guardians that bag and bin their poo
🏆Practice their recall skills and fun, engaging games on path
🏆Explore less wildlife sensitive, wooded areas of the heaths
🏆Explore alternative walks

We look forward to meeting more heroes on the heaths through the rest of the season 😀
