It was the Juniors end of season dinner last night at Wigan RUFC, which is hopefully the first of many!⚫️⚪️

Fantastic catering provided by the team from The Paddock Coffee House & Restaurant 🍴

Music provided the very talented Mat Bianco 🎶

The first “Juniors Coach Of The Year” award went to Jerome Weall for overcoming a tough season and coming out on top winning the Lancashire Development Cup with his U15s team🏆

Great to have a number of coaches & parents coming together to celebrate the junior section, the hard work both coaches and parents put in and letting their hair down!

We’re already looking forward to next seasons dinner!

Wigan RUFC are looking for a new Juniors Fixtures Secretary to join our fantastic team🏉

This is a key role that helps keep our junior section running smoothly, from arranging fixtures and managing schedules to liaising with opposition clubs and coaches throughout the season. Full mentoring and support will be provided by the outgoing Junior Fixtures Secretary, making it a great opportunity for someone looking to get involved behind the scenes at the club.

Responsibilities include:
• Arranging fixtures for the following season with other clubs via a fixtures secretary Whatsapp group.
• Maintaining a fixtures spreadsheet and keeping coaches updated weekly regarding upcoming fixtures.
• Organising replacement fixtures when cancellations occur.
• Managing kick-off times and pitch allocations to ensure numbers are manageable.
• Keep Junior Chairman and bar/catering manager up to date with fixtures and numbers.
• Confirm fixtures with opposition every week and exchange coaches contact details.

If you’d like to support grassroots rugby and make a real difference to our thriving junior section, we’d love to hear from you.

📞Please contact Matt on 07864 143769 if you are interested or have any questions!

George On The Up & Up!🏆

There’s been a long tradition over the years at Wigan RUFC of our senior and junior players also excelling in other sports.

And whilst it has usually been in the traditional alternatives of rugby league, football, cricket, golf, athletics and wrestling, one of our current dual-sport superstars is achieving great heights by way of a trampoline!

George Butler, who’s been playing at the club since the age of six, will be turning out for our Senior Colts next season as a strong running wing, centre or fullback🏉 Meanwhile, he’s currently ranked in the top five for his age in the world in the sport of trampolining and is on the pathway towards a place in the British Olympic Team🇬🇧

So far this year, George has competed in the English and British qualifiers, winning both, and attaining a Personal Best score that has surpassed any score achieved by a sixteen year old in the past decade🥇

George will be heading to Switzerland for the Nissan Cup in June, then competing in the English Championships in July – with the aim of making it through to the World Championships in November, in China.

Understandably, we’re all immensely proud of George, and we’ll all be cheering him along all the way!

And sporting achievement seems to be a theme in the Butler family as his older brother Nathan is our speedy first team winger and full back, his sister Josie is making a name for herself with the Wigan Rugby League Academy, and youngest of the family Lois has recently started her rugby journey within the ranks of our Wigan RUFC minis⚪️⚫️

Even dad, Lee, who has coached at the club for fifteen years and is currently a coach for both the Wigan 1st XV and Senior Colts, has dusted off his boots, taped and bandaged up every possible joint, applied emollients and pain numbing creams, and turned out for all three of our senior teams at Douglas Valley over the past couple of seasons👏🏻

They’re one of the amazing families we have entwined in the fabric of Wigan RUFC that have helped build the club’s success over recent years and help maintain its position as a vital community asset within in the heart of the Wigan Borough.

Good luck to the St Peter's Catholic High School Rugby League Y7 team as they head to Wembley tomorrow for the final against local rivals Deanery High School! 🏉 💛♥️

A huge achievement to get this far — everyone in Wigan is behind you! Special shoutout to our own Freddy R, who’s proudly representing St Peter’s in the squad.

Play with pride, enjoy every moment, and the best of luck to both teams! 🙌🏆

As many of you may already know, our Year 7 boys’ rugby team have reached the National Final and will be playing at Wembley this Saturday ahead of the Challenge Cup Finals. An incredible achievement and one the whole school community should be proud of!

The match kicks off at 10am and will be streamed live on the Rugby Football League YouTube channel.

We’d also love to give the team a proper send-off before they travel. Anyone wishing to come along is very welcome at school at 8:45am on Friday morning to cheer the lads on before they head to Wembley.

Good luck, boys!

Best of luck to all the lads involved in this evening’s Wigan Warriors v Hull KR clash! 🏉🔥

We’re incredibly proud to see former Wigan RUFC Juniors players featuring in tonight’s squad:

🏉 Josh Cartwright
🏉 Taylor Kerr
🏉 George O’Loughlin
🏉 Kian McDermott

All four came through the junior section at Wigan RUFC, and it’s fantastic to see their continued progression at the highest level.

A special mention to Taylor Kerr, who this evening becomes the youngest ever captain of Wigan Warriors — an outstanding achievement and a proud moment for him & his family.

At Wigan RUFC, we’re proud to support and develop players across both codes of rugby and celebrate every success our players go on to achieve.
