Most athletes think a slow burpee broad jump split means they need to move faster.

Usually it’s not speed..

It’s efficiency.

The 3 mistakes I see most on burpee broad jumps:

1️⃣ Going out too fast on the first few reps.

You rush the drop and jump early because adrenaline’s high, but your chest never fully touches, your jumps get sloppy, and you end up doing more reps than you think for the same distance.

To fix this: Hold back 5-10% on the first few reps versus what feels “comfortable”. Build a rhythm you can actually repeat for the full distance, not just the start.

2️⃣ No plan for how your jump distance should change as you fatigue.

Chasing big jumps early feels productive but burns your legs fast, so your jumps shrink later and you end up needing extra reps to cover the same ground.

To fix this: Pick a jump distance you can hold consistently rep after rep, even if it’s shorter than your “best” jump. Fewer, more efficient reps beats more, sloppier ones.

3️⃣ Treating every rep the same instead of pacing to the station ahead.

Redlining on burpees leaves you gasping and uncoordinated the second you stand up into whatever’s next.

To fix this: Use your last few reps to control your breathing on the way up, so you’re moving straight into the next station instead of recovering from this one.

Your speed might already be good enough,

But it’s the pacing and jump economy that’s costing you time.

Save this before your next race, it may be the difference between a PB or not.

Tenerife Relay 🇮🇨✅

Kirsty and Sophie just competed in their first relay together out in Tenerife and despite it being the world’s hottest hyrox by the sound of it, they smashed it.

These two came to me as a package, both working toward doubles together.

But the plan itself wasn’t a “shared” programme, each of them had their own individual training built around their lives, with a joint session worked in weekly to build that team chemistry.

And their lives haven’t exactly made it easy.

Busy schedules, injuries to work around, a completely new lifestyle with hybrid training thrown into the mix.

But this relay was always the plan, the first real test point before doubles.

It was never just “a race,” it was the point to see where they actually stood as a team.

They passed with flying colours if I say so myself.

All roads now lead to their doubles together, and genuinely, I can’t wait to see how these two get on as a team.

The individual work is there, the chemistry is there.

Now it’s about putting it together.

Proud of both of you.

This is just the start.

DM “READY” if you’re building toward something similar, solo training, team goals, or both.

I have to train today vs I get to train today 🤷🏻‍♂️

Same task.

But comes with a completely different feeling.

Swipe through and notice how much lighter every one of these gets when you flip two words.

This isn’t about pretending every session feels good, because it doesn’t.

Some days the alarm is awful and the session is heavy and you just want to stay in bed.

But training is still a privilege, not a punishment..

You have a body that moves, a gym to walk into, a coach or a class waiting for you.

Not everyone gets that.

Language shapes effort.

Say “have to” and it’s a chore.

Say “get to” and it’s a choice you’re lucky to keep making.

Same workout, completely different energy walking through the door.

Save this for the next time you’re dreading a session,

Or better.. Tag someone who needs the reminder 👇

Washington DC Hyrox 🇺🇸✅

My brilliant team member Dani and her partner have crossed the line in Washington DC in 1:15.

An absolutely brilliant performance in their first outing.

Now here’s the thing, as you know I love being there for the team whenever I can, but this time round I sadly couldn’t as Dani lives out in America and sadly, I’m here!

But she still smashed it.

That’s online coaching done right.

I know there’s been a lot of noise lately about online coaching not “really” working.. no one watching your form, no accountability, no relationship.

Dani is proof that’s just not true when it’s done properly.

When she started with me, she was training multiple classes a day, putting the work in, but no real structure behind it.

One of the first things we changed was actually pulling volume back.

Less sessions, more intention.

Making sure intensity and exertion were there, not just chasing more for the sake of more.

Turns out less-but-better beats more-but-random.

Every time.

Salt Lake City is next, in a couple of weeks. Then Dublin. Then she’s flying over to join us in Manchester too!

Buzzing doesn’t quite cover it.

If you’re training hard but don’t feel like it’s adding up to anything, that structure conversation might be the one you need too.

DM “READY” and let’s get started.
