A week of preparation, processing recycled road plannings to a smaller size, which will make it easier for compaction when the roller arrives next week. All paths and the car park will then be rolled for routine maintenance. A new path is being constructed from the 13th gold tee back down other tees and onto the fairways improving this area from its current path. The 13th gold tee has now been mapped out and had its first cut with the robot mowers, getting closer to opening. We also had some new visitors this week taking in the views on their morning walk with Mum and Dad. wildlife

Finishing the week off with wetting agent applications to greens and tees, followed by a quick dose of water to wash in. Who would have thought after that winter we would already be praying for some rain, looking like some rain in the forecast over the next week though.
The greens have also been Sarrel rolled to allow air movement and help with holes for water movement.
This week we started our bunker renovation program, starting with the bunkers on 4 and 17. Previous sand has been removed, new drainage sump installed and soil brought in to change the shapes. Once complete these bunkers will then have new liner installed and topped with new bunker sand.

A busy week on the course for the sprayer between some much needed rain and less needed strong winds. All fairways have been sprayed with wetting agents, Eco feed and Elevate this will maximise effect of any water, improve colouring and encourage growth.
The greens have had the first application of feed this morning after last weeks application of wetting agents, this is the start of the monthly spraying regimes. Onto the tees next week.
Moving into the season now with weekly regimes of divoting tees, moving bunker sand, changing holes and trying to keep on top of moisture levels.

Yesterday, we held our annual Captains’ Drive-In at Wareham Golf Club, officially welcoming our 2026 captains:
• Dave Austin – Club Captain
• Tony Morgan – Seniors Captain
• Kerry Chamberlain – Ladies Captain

It was a fantastic event enjoyed by all, despite some challenging windy conditions on the course.

Congratulations go to John Jones, who won the competition with an excellent score of 38 points — a superb achievement given the weather!

A great start to the season, and we wish all our captains the very best of luck for 2026 at Wareham Golf Club.

A short week on the course due to the Easter Bank holidays, so the team focused on getting the 13th gold tee, 13th old bunker and 16th old bunker turfed as well as topping up and level of the new drainage lines on the 17th fairway. We would like to thank the volunteers of Andy, Ash, Jumbo, John, Jeremy and Mike for their help in making this a much easier process, showing great support to the club in their free time.
The course is set up ready for Saturdays Easter Hamper competition, good luck to everyone taking part.

This week on the course -
All of the robots have now been out on the course for a whole week as we test out the cutting regimes, as we get spring growth, regimes and cutting heights will change. Already seeing a big difference in turf health and quality of cut.
The team have been making their way around the bunkers getting ready for the season, the process of, moving sand, edging, removal of weeds&stones, and cutting around the edges.
Clearing and sharpening path edges removing grass and weeds that have taken over during the winter months.
13th gold tee is now ready for turfing next Wednesday along with 13&16th old bunkers which have been filled in. At the same time a new path and buggy park is being prepared as you access the tee from the 12th green and exit over a new bridge.
Friday saw us giving the greens a fresh cut with our summer units after the recovery from renovations. Followed by the approaches getting a granular feed before a few rain showers this afternoon, to give the growth that little extra boast.

A Busy week on the course making the most of the sunshine 🌞.
Starting the week with a spring harrow on the fairways to break up and remove moss, quickly followed by a blow and clearance of the debris. This was then followed by the Vredo which direct seeds into the fairways soil profile, and now we wait. While having the machines in on hire we utilised these to help continue on the tee renovations.
The greens have had the first cut since renovations setting up for the Friday and weekend golf, amazing what some sunshine and stripes can do visually.
Irrigation repairs have been completed from last year, this now means we can test for any new problems and prime the system next week ready for the season ahead.
Finally finishing the week with the last stages of the Robot commission, all now at their stations and operating, we will now be gradually introduce the cutting regimes.
