Dorset Dales Shooting and Fishing Days

Dorset Dales Shooting and Fishing Days Hi all, I’m very fortunate with where I live and what I have so just thought I’d set up this page to share my hunting and shooting adventures.

21/08/2026

Good evening all,
I have 2 spaces come available for our annual Goose Trip to Scotland this coming October.
Leaving Dorset in the early hours of Sunday 4th October heading up to Aberdeen.
We’ll be shooting the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th October.
Morning flighting geese over decoys and evening flighting ducks.
Cost for each day will be £230 per person.
I have accommodation booked that will be about £250 for the week.
Round figures £1500 for the week.
Not cheap but with an award winning guide and wooden shooting lodge with gun cabinets.
We will be shooting the guides 1st weeks of his season so should get 1st “dibs” at the geese.

If you’re interested get in touch and I’ll forward more details.

Thanks

Dale

Past couple of days with the rods in hand, out on the boat Saturday, had a few fish and caught the sun. Then today fished a club match, managed to draw in the shade but still very warm. Managed to win the match too which was a result.

About time!!

📰 BREAKING: Lords remove sound moderators from Section 1

If that sounds familiar, it's because the Government had previously promised to do it "when parliamentary time allows" – and that time has come.

Yesterday, the Lords accepted a Crime and Policing Bill amendment removing sound moderators and flash hiders from Section 1 licensing in England, Scotland and Wales.

Moderators specifically for Section 1 fi****ms will still require the user to possess a shotgun or firearm certificate, but the items themselves will no longer be licensed – so no police variation will be needed.

Commencement date is to be confirmed, but the Bill is expected to become law by mid-May. Until then, sound moderators remain Section 1 fi****ms.

💬 Roger Seddon, shooting campaign manager at the Countryside Alliance, said:

"We hope this change will be brought into effect at the earliest opportunity. The immediate alleviation of some of the administrative burden on police fi****ms licensing departments cannot come too soon, with many forces struggling as things stand."

More analysis to follow.

Well that’s another season over, thanks to everyone that’s invited me out, shared days in the field and made more fabulous memories. Always feel blessed to be out with my fellow countryfolk. The dogs have worked there little legs off and done me proud yet again. They’re now bathed and getting a well earned rest. Guns are cleaned, oiled and put away for at least a couple of weeks when hopefully they’ll be dragged back out for some roost shooting. Boots are also cleaned and oiled. The truck will get some TLC next weekend when hopefully some of this rain buggers off!
