Our 8th annual Max Deadlift Competition is now just over 14 weeks away, and we're already looking forward to putting on a fun, fast paced and well run event

Early bird entries for members only go live on Monday 14th September at 10am
-
Entries for non-members will then go live at 10am on Monday 21st September, giving members an entire week to secure their spot
-
Don't forget, we have novice, open and equipped classes, which you can find lots more information about by reading the rules document on our website

😈💀 GET STRONG OR DIE TRYING 💀😈 Wakefield strength academy Jack Gunson & Gemma Grason all competed at the WRPF UK Raw Strength Qualifier in Warrington at the weekend
-
Gemma came 🥈 in her class and qualified for the nationals with a 360kg total
-
Ikram came 🥈 in his class and had the biggest bench of the day with a 702.5kg total
-
Ben came 🥇 in his class with a 732.5kg total. He also deadlifted 700lb for the first time!
-
Jack came 🥇 in his class with a 560kg total, narrowly missing that elusive 120kg Bench. We know you'll get it next time!

OUR MEMBERS' ACHIEVEMENTS EPISODE CVI

Mok Chir Tex & Katie Evelyn all travelled up to Newcastle for the WRPF UK qualifier at the weekend
-
Tex came 🥇 in his class with a 752.5kg sleeved total, which was also enough for him to take home the best lifter of the day award in his category 🏆
-
Katie came 🥇 in her class with a 387.5kg total. This was enough for her to be awarded the best overall female lifter of the day 🏆
-
Finally, Mok also came 🥇 in his weight class with a PB total of 782.5kg. He also won best overall lifter in his category 🏆
-

Tex and Mok were the top 2 best lifters on Dots from the entire competition... absolute dominance 💪

OUR MEMBERS' ACHIEVEMENTS EPISODE CV

Berni Dakin & Rich all competed at our Viking Shield Qualifier on Sunday
-
This was Richard's first competition experience, and he took the whole day in his stride. He built his Squat, Bench and Deadlift up from scratch, learnt all the commands and put in the graft to make sure he was ready, resulting in a great day filled with new personal bests!
-
Bernie had a quick turnaround from her previous competition, so the day was about putting a total together and attempting to qualify for the final. In the end, she won 🥇 her weight class and came 3rd place overall!!
-
Emma had a stressful prep, to say the least, so she decided to be conservative with her attempt selections and have some fun. The plan paid off perfectly as Emma finished with 🥇 in her class and came 2nd overall!!

Another brilliant event at the weekend with some incredible lifting 💪

The whole day went off without a hitch and we're really happy with how smooth it all went
-
We say it every time, but we literally could not put on these competitions without the help and support of our volunteers, so a very special thank you to all that helped out:

There are also some additional invites for our wildcard spots that are still yet to be announced, so please, even if you didn't receive an award in either qualifier, still keep an eye on your email inbox, as you could still receive an invitation!!!

We will send an email out over the coming week to all who have qualified with their official invitation

These competitions are not just about trying to qualify, they are also an ideal opportunity to get into Powerlifting (many for the first time) so even if you're a complete novice, this is the platform for you!

The WRPF ran a Strict Curl event at the weekend, where we had 8 members travel down to be part of

Sarah Brearley finished with a 32.5kg curl
-
Sophie Evelyn finished with a 35kg curl
-
Jack Gunson finished with a 52.5kg curl

Tex finished with a 55kg curl
-
Gregory Pearson finished with a 67.5kg curl, which is a new record!

Oliver Brearley finished with a 70kg curl

😈💀 GET STRONG OR DIE TRYING 💀😈 finished with an 80kg curl, which is a new record!

Mok Chir finished with an 80.5kg curl, which is a new record, and was the biggest strict curl of the day!!

Weigh in & registration is 8-9am

We will be having one flight of lifters for the day, meaning ALL competitors from all classes will be in flight 1

All spectators are welcome, there is just a £3 entry fee for spectators, that can be paid upon arrival

Once the parking spaces directly outside the gym are full, please use the nearby street parking. Please refrain from parking in front of the roller shutter doors of the neighbouring businesses, and please don't use the Kolorcraft car park

We had 9 members compete at the British Powerlifting Union British Championships last week, as well as 2 members compete at the Halifax Strength Unit / Speight Strongman competition at the weekend.....

BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026

Berni Dakin came 🥇 in her class, broke 2 World records, and qualified for the World Championships
-
MJ came 🥉 in her class, earning her an invite to the World Championships
-
Jayne Michelle came 🥇 in her class, broke a British record, and qualified for the World Championships
-
Chardonay Bromley 💪😊 Powerlifter came 🥇 in her class, broke a British record & 2 World records, which earned her an invite to the World Championships

Carolyn Sharpe came 🥇 in her class, broke 2 of her own World records, and qualified for World Championships

Joshua Brodrick got a couple of PB's at his first National event, and broke into the top 10 of a very stacked and heavily contested -100kg class
