7 Cornwall BMX racing Club members made the trip to race at Rounds 5&6 of the British Cycling Nationals this weekend at Gosport.

The sun was hot and so were the laps so here's a round up of how our riders got on!!

Evan Davey and Ruby Evans battled hard in the motos with Evan reaching the quarters on both days.

Jaime Puddock just missed out on the A final on both days with 5th place in the semis but she'll defo be back and challenging for that top 8 spot at the next one.

Claire Albert rode hard all weekend and made her first 30+ A final on day one!!!! Massive congrats on this Claire and it shows how much work you've been putting in recently!

Another rider who's performance was an example of how hard work can pay off was Karen Evans who was on fire throughout day 2 and made the semis!

The general theme of this summary is that the riders who are making great progress at this high level of racing are the ones who have been putting the work in. And our Rider of the Round for rounds 5+6 of the Nationals is the best example of this you could find.

We've always known that Jack Davey is an artist on a BMX and makes everything he does on it look amazing. But in previous seasons he has sometimes been out-powered at the Nationals by bigger riders.

But not any more......
Jack's been working hard in the gym and his dedication and work rate is clear to see. His power output has greatly increased and he looked to have the fastest track speed all weekend in the super competitive open 16 group.

Jack made the A final on both days and took 5th and 4th respectively. Awesome work from an awesome rider.

I hope that this is a great incentive to any young riders out there.

If you want to be good then put the work in and be consistent.

With the South West Region BMX Racing regional series in full swing Cornwall BMX Racing Club members made the trip to Cardiff this weekend for round 6 of the series.

Stand outs included:
Jack Davey taking 2nd place and making it look stylish as always in the open 16.

Jaime Puddock taking another 1st place in the female 11-12

Hattie and Hughie Brereton BOTH making A finals and BOTH taking 5th place!!!

Oryn Gotel with another awesome regional showing making 4th in the male 8s.

PLUS Karen Evans and Claire Albert both winning their classes.

BUT our Rider of the Round this week goes to Stuart Brereton!!!!
Stuart has learned so quickly and is making huge progress with his racing every week. His gates, jumping, lines and track craft have all come on at a staggering rate and he comfortably took the win in the 40-49 cruiser yesterday! Keep it going Stuart!

Maximum group size 8 riders grouped according to individual ability and need.

Thursday nights sessions 1800-1900 or 1900-2000 grouped on ability
