Caithness 7s 🏉
The team headed north this weekend to visit some old pals at Caithness Rugby FC for the women’s 7s tournament which was run alongside Caithness men’s come ashore cup. The last time our women ventured to Caithness it was during Storm Babet in 2023 ⛈️
It was an action packed weekend from what we’ve seen. With Happiness is Egg Shaped getting dunked and ex Scotland play, WP Nel making an appearance but the most exciting part was Stornoway women making their 7s rugby debut!
They started the day off by facing the hosts and event winners Caithness RFC Womens Team where they faced an unfortunate defeat against a well experienced team.
The team kept their heads high as they went on to play Orkney RFC Women followed by a game against Caithness 2XV where the team came away with a very impressive 31-10 win 🏆.
There was no rest after that win though! it was straight into the final game where they faced a very very familiar opponent… the women from Inverness Craig Dunain RFC. In recent years both sides have been used to playing on the same team so I think everyone was looking forward to this one. It was a close played game with ICD coming away with the win, but not by much! 👀
There was so many highlights and positives from the day with everyone showing off great performances! Huge well done to everyone on the team! 🙌🏼
Player of the tournament has been awarded to Luke Maclean who is sponsored by Pat Brunton. Luke continued their try scoring ways by slotting in 2 tries at the weekend! Well done Luke 🏅
Try scorers from the day:

Huge thank you to Caithness for such a fantastic tournament! 👏🏼
The team now have a weekend off before they’re back on the road on the 20th for their 3rd and final tournament of the season where they head to Ross Sutherland 7s!
