Most dancers don’t realise this… but feeling drained on competition day usually isn’t about how “fit” you are, it’s about how you’ve managed your energy leading up to it.
If you go into a Feis already running on empty, no amount of warm-up or adrenaline will fully fix that.
So the goal isn’t just to prepare your dancing… it’s to protect your energy before you even step on stage.
Here’s what actually makes a difference:
⏰ Sleep consistency, not just the night before
Your body performs best when your sleep routine is steady in the days leading up to a Feis. Late nights and inconsistent rest build fatigue long before you realise it.
🍽 Fuel your body properly (don’t guess it on the day)
Feis day is not the time to experiment. Stick to foods you know sit well with you and keep your energy stable, not spikes and crashes. Hydration also plays a massive role in focus and stamina.
💤 Lower intensity training in the lead-up
More training right before a Feis does not equal better dancing. It often just creates tired legs and a noisy mind. Tapering your training helps your body feel fresh, reactive, and ready to perform.
Because the goal isn’t just to get through the day… It’s to step on stage feeling clear, strong, and in control 💚
And this is exactly what we work on inside the MWM Gold Club, helping dancers understand how to actually manage their performance, not just train for it.
Save this for your next Feis 💚
