It was a VERY exciting day earlier this week when I finally got to bring this beautiful girly home having bought her at 3 months old last year. As soon as she was born I knew I had to buy her. 🤐 🤪

She’s by the renowned Grafenstolz and out of an Advanced event mare who’s dam was none other than 5* and Olympic long listed The Wexford Lady. Certainly bred in the purple!

Obviously in it for the long game with these babies but the future is exciting! Patience is a virtue as they say!

2026 baby?! 🤐 🤞 🍀 An opportunity too good to turn down.

I’ve been reluctant to post about this as I’m so conscious that there’s a very long way to go and never any guarantees where breeding is concerned. It’s already been an eye opening experience to get to this point and it’s still very early days!

That said, it’s incredibly exciting and I’m extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to loan Herzi as a broodmare from Juulia.
I’ve known Herzi for a number of years as she’s been a livery on my yard with Gabbie (who I also can’t thank enough for suggesting the idea) and it’s really nice that I was able to ride her a number of times when she was still in work. She was the most beautiful mare to ride who just floated around - so light on her feet.
When she retired she went out to grass initially but then came back to me to winter in my barn with my then 2yr old Beau whilst she was carrying this years foal, who I now also have here at home on Gabbie’s behalf. It’s been a steep learning curve about the whole journey of looking after a mare in foal and then a mare with a foal at foot and more recently, the weaning process.

Herzi previously evented to Intermediate level successfully and is a grade 1 Oldenburg broodmare sired by the renowned Heraldik. She already has a few offspring on the ground who are looking exciting prospects, one of which I was lucky enough to have a sit on this summer (pictured).

I have put her to Diarado (sire of JL Dublin amongst MANY other very good horses!) in the hope of breeding a top level event prospect for the future but we all know a bit (a lot!) of luck is needed along the way! First of all, let’s hope we have a healthy foal born next summer! 🤞🤞🤞

Exciting times! (And praying putting this ‘out there’ doesn’t jinx it all! 🙈)

Time to introduce the lovely Ruby who I initially tried to purchase at 2 months old last summer. Unfortunately I couldn’t convince her breeder to part with her back then but almost a year later I was more successful and she made the trip over in July.

She’s the sweetest girl and very well related which is why I sought her out in the first place. She has a number of full and half siblings who are very successful competition horses some of which are listed below.

Full sibling 5* eventer
Full sibling currently eventing at 4*
Half Sibling (same dam) SJ 1.45m in USA
Half Sibling (same dam) Grade A SJ

She is by Imperial Hights (Master Imp) x ARD VDL Douglas who himself was a Grand Prix Show Jumper.

Hopefully the future will be exciting with her! 🤞

Been a while since I’ve updated on here but there’s not been a lot to report as they’re all out eating grass! 😂 One day I may ride again. I am determined! 🙄🤞 In the meantime I shall run! 🏃‍♀️ 😆

So my gorgeous 4yr old Finn. I adore this horse. 💓

He is such a people person and has proved this even more by enduring 2 weeks box rest when he’s barely been stabled before for any length of time.

After breaking him to tack last year he has been backed this summer. Hacking out confidently on his own and with others and was looking pretty smart for only his second time in the school.

However he picked up an injury in the field which turned out to be worse than we first thought. 😔 He was never lame, it is not serious and he’ll make a full recovery, but he needs some field rest by which point it’ll be winter and so I’ve made the decision to turn him away until the spring.

Another winter to grow and fill out will do him no harm as he’s a big lad and pretty lanky at the moment! Hopefully he’ll be worth the wait! 🤞

I somehow completely forgot to post about being invited back to officiate at the simply stunning Cornbury House Horse Trials back in September. I think I was pre occupied with having 3 feral youngsters to contend with! 😂

After being on the Ground Jury for the 6yr old Champs in 2023 I was incredibly grateful to be invited back again in 2024 to judge a 2* section.

This event is just incredible. The setting and hospitality is second to none and the sheer number of international competitors, never mind National classes to boot, must be a serious challenge to organise so hats off to everyone involved for making this one of the best events in the calendar. 🌟

It was a complete privilege and pleasure to judge alongside my president Douglas Hibbert. Always looking to learn and expand my knowledge and experience so I am beyond grateful for these opportunities.

Although we had a rather wet course inspection, it’s nice to look back on these pictures now. Reminds you that there will be warmer weather to come when we’re currently in the depths of winter!

A little introduction to Beau who arrived back in August with Finn. Another completely unhandled baby straight from the breeder.

Only a 2 year old and tiny! He may not grow to be big enough for me but we can keep our fingers crossed that he does. He has a full sibling who is 15.2hh at 4yrs old so I’m hoping he might make slightly bigger than this but he’ll be a very smart pocket rocket if nothing else. 😍

By Tullabeg Fusion and out of a mare by Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet, I’m hoping he’ll make a very smart alrounder. He has an incredibly kind eye.

Still very raw. He didn’t have much handling when he arrived and has been turned away until a couple of weeks ago. Now wintering in the barn, it’s a good chance to get some basic handling instilled.

Who knows what the future holds for him. 👀
