I had the pleasure of awarding Sensei Garry Lucas and Sensei Simon Phillips with their 20 years (plus 😆) Licence which gives them a lifetime membership of the association.
It’s symbolic and It’s only right that people are rewarded for contributing to the study of the art , development of the club / association and people’s personal development and karate journey.
At SSGB we love to champion people.

Today’s squad focused on selection for the European championships in October. Only those wishing to be considered for selection attended.

🥋For the kata section all competitors had to perform their selection of katas individually whilst being marked against the WUKF marking criteria, regardless of grade, rank and position in the association

🥊The kumite competitors had a series of competitive fights, again assessed against set criteria.
A hard couple of hours for everyone 🥵Well done all. Stage 2 in August ✅

Superb day for us at the Jinsei Dojo Northwest Karate Competition.
Improvements across the board both in terms of medals but importantly the technical level of kata and kumite, as ever it’s those incremental Improvements that are so important.
Well done to everyone who took part especially those who medalled.
Let’s keep pushing … Squad next Sunday.
