Its time to catch up on some news!

Rugeley members Rich Hemingway and Olivia Beech placed at the Welsh 50Metre Championships in June. Shooting at Tondu Target Shooting Club near Bridgend, Richard contested the Prone events, with Olivia also competing in Three-Position r***e.

Tondu lived up to its reputation as a gusty site, with winds pushing down scores well below average. Richard struggled in his eliminator, but qualified for the Welsh Confined Championships on Sunday morning. He found some performance the next day to improve by ten points and finish fourth, just 0.1points off a bronze medal.

In the Three-Position, Olivia placed 5th amongst a strong field of GB Pathway Shooters, finishing just three points out of the medals.

Rugeley members have been in action at Bisley for the National Small-bore Championships this week.

Kicking the weekend off, Alex Buttery and Phoebe Houghton both contested the Weekend Aggregate in C-Class. Alex finished eighth, with Phoebe 33rd.

On Sunday, Dave Glover represented Staffordshire in the Inter-County 50Metre Champion of Champions match, finishing 22nd.

In the week, Martyn Buttery contested the Grand Aggregate, successfully staying in X-Class. Martyn qualified for the second stage of the Earl Roberts British Prone Championship but missed the cut for the final 20.

The Earl Roberts itself resulted in an exciting three-way tie – something which has not happened in some 30 years. England, Scotland and Wales were all represented as Richard Wilson, James Paterson and Sian Corish returned to the range for a third card at 100yards, with Richard Wilson becoming British Prone Champion for the second time (his first win being 2016). Paterson placed second and Corish third.
