Congratulations to club member Sydney, who earned his Brown/Black Belt (1st Kyu) following a tough grading at the EWKR Winter Course.

Sydney has really been putting the hours into his training, and that dedication truly paid off with this final step before the black belt grading. A massive well done, Sydney!

Big congratulations to Tic Tac, who successfully earned her 1st Dan Black Belt following an impressive grading at the England Wado Kai Spring course in Sandhurst.

The grading was conducted by a panel of senior instructors from England Wado Kai; Sensei Barry Wilkinson , Sensei Nick Perkins, and Sensei Peter Fielder.

I've been teaching karate for nearly 20 years and it’s always a buzz when you see one of your students successfully grade, but it’s extra special when you have coached someone from their very first lesson all the way through to Black Belt.

Tic Tac started with Reading Karate Club - Wado-Kai when she was just six years old and has grown into a fantastic karateka, winning national and international medals along the way. She is also a wonderful role model and inspiration to our younger members.

Super proud of your achievement Tic Tac! Congratulations!

Great turnout at training on Monday night's adult class. Thanks to everyone who came down and to Freya for visiting us during her short stay from Dubai.

We continued our work on refining the elements of Nieseishi Kata, some Ohyo kumite, and ran through the syllabus for yellow/orange grades for our grading members.

Finished off with some pad drills and pressure testing.

After training we had a grading for 4 of our members followed by a trip to the pub to celebrate their success - a very busy club night!

There is no training next week at the Reading club due to the bank holiday, but some of the other EWKR clubs are running next week.

We will be back to training on Monday 1st September. All are welcome.

Congratulations to 4 of our members on their successful gradings last night. Excellent work from all the candidates πŸ‘
