MNRFC CRICKET TOURNAMENT - MNCC, SUNDAY 30 AUGUST, 1pm

With counties struggling for cash, the ECB decided the English game needed a high profile franchise tournament that could compete with the Indian Premier League.

After a successful first year of the Norton Premier League, which included the Chairman being unable to bowl six deliveries without serious concerns about his health, it returns for a second edition.

This season, the NPL has been bolstered by Indian investment into the franchises, with our established local teams replaced by AI subcontinent slop.

Join us tomorrow as we battle the elements to see if young, old, or in between become this year’s MNRFC cricket champions.

Inside the clubhouse (10am-10pm) is also a Darts marathon - which is being run by friend of the club and bar staff member Jennie Webb raising money for MacMillan cancer - in thanks for the support they have given her husband, and our friend, Tom over these last few months.

If you want to donate you can do so here: https://dartsmarathon.macmillan.org.uk/users/jennie-webb-2

It was great to get a run out in the sun on Saturday. A good crowd came to watch our squad take on our visitors from Beckenham. Also a huge thanks to Lee Jackson from Somerset Rugby Referees for supporting the day.

Games, music, burgers and plenty of pints followed.

Preseason training continues and we will bring you news on rearranged preseason fixtures very soon.

This afternoon, we welcome Beckenham for a first hit out of the summer. With the recent weather, the game will be played with modified rules but it’s a chance to come up and see how the lads’ preparation is going ahead of the new season.

All this will be followed by a BBQ from LJ and then live music from Kings of Indie.
