Stratton United FC

Stratton United FC Stratton United is a youth football club for boys and girls aged six plus

Stratton United Football Club was originally founded in 1900 and the team played its first game at the same ground we play at today. Stratton United has a rich history, enjoying many successes including winning both the Somerset Sunday Challenge Cup and the Somerset Junior Cup during its long and distinguished past but sadly after more than a century of football the team folded in 2004. Now, with

the support of Stratton-on-the-Fosse Parish Council and Somerset FA, the club's name is back on the league fixture list for the first time in nearly two decades. We are very proud of our past achievements and pay tribute to the hard work of numerous people connected to the club down the years but we are also incredibly excited about the future. Stratton United is an inclusive, open and friendly club that encourages players to play the game the right way with no cheating, bad language, goal-hanging, abuse of officials or foul play. Our teams don't play just to win, they play to enjoy competing, learn the game and develop as players and people. Team managers are fully qualified, FA licensed coaches and all club volunteers are CRC/DBS checked by the Football Association.

Stratton Under 12s took part in the Westfield tournament the weekend and played brilliantly.
Making it to the final loosing out on penalties finishing the tournament with the runners up medal is a great testament to how far the teams come in a short space of time.
Well done all of you 💪 amazing team spirit shown.

Thanks
To Westfield for putting on a well run event 👍

U11s v Chilcompton
Yay! Well done everybody on a magnificent performance, our first game for a while and a really amazing effort from every single player. The team spirit was superb as was the atmosphere on the pitch, a proper team effort with everyone encouraging one another and not getting on each other's backs when things didn't go our way.

Our goals came from Jack in the first half with a header that the keeper pushed onto the bar but rebounded and ended up in the net, then soon after, Charlie broke away on the right, beat 3 players before putting in a perfect cross for Jack to hammer home and put us in the lead at half time.

In the second half, playing down hill we dominated possession but didn't create many clear cut chances until Leo made an amazing solo run the length of the pitch and blasted home from just inside the box. Chilcompton threw everything at us late in the game but we managed the game really well and didn't give them many chances and saw the game out really professionally.

Everyone worked hard all over the pitch today, Harper made some great tackles and is starting to find passes out of defence rather than just kicking the ball away, Alfie also defended well and got forward at crucial times too. It was great to have Eli back in the team, his experience and composure on the ball helped bring a confidence to the defence that's been lacking for a while. Leo was back to his best today and Chilcompton just couldn't deal with his dribbling and strength. Tommy made his league debut for us today and did really well, his link up play was good and he held the ball up really well with his back to goal and found passes to our midfield. Jack was lively and didn't stop running all game and thoroughly deserved his goals.
Player of the match was shared between Harley for some great saves and good distribution throughout the game and Charlie who made some great runs out wide on the right, getting crosses in and was very unlucky not to get himself on the score sheet
Massive thanks to Brad and Leighton from the u10s for coming to help out after their own match and they both played well and worked hard.

No game next week as it's Mother's Day but we're back the following week home to Timsbury.

Stratton U10s vs Chilcompton U10s

So impressed and proud of these boys today, a slow and tired start saw us go a couple goals down in the first quarter but we came off and a sudden change of energy and fight came over us. Getting a goal back fairly early on into the second quarter with a great finish by Oli and defending really well as a team. Still trailing by a goal at half time but still very much in this game. Went back out and in the third quarter, having majority of the ball and chances but we just couldn’t quite get it in the back of the net. Still chasing something from this game, and in the last quarter it was total domination from us. So many chances, Chilcompton couldn’t get out of their own half and chance after chance finally our goals came. A couple great goals by Teddy and comeback complete! It’s great to see this team really starting to work and gel together now and the resilience and fight to get a brilliant win out of the game. Leighton was player of the match for his superb defensive display

Shepton 0- 4 Stratton

Really tough conditions to play in today. But I thought in spells even in the conditions Some excellent football was played.
We went ahead as Brooklyn found Tommy at the first post to put us one up.
Shepton battled hard and were a well organised side who were difficult to break down. We eventually got our second Brooklyn again the provider who found henry to slot home.
Going into the second half down hill with the wind I thought we would really push on but conditions got the better of us and some players were struggling. Brooklyn was brilliant in the middle linking up play nicely and Birdy was a rock in the middle. We got our 3rd as Ralphy fired home at close range. He then went on to get our 4th aswell which put the game to bed. Really impressed and work rate to get back and cover the defence at the end.
Really proud of the result and I thought Ezra and Darcie were brilliant at the back Ezra put some real crunching tackles in and Darcie was very good with the ball at her feet.
Tommy also had one of his best games scoring and assisting and working hard up and down the line.
Player of the match in the end went to Darcie I thought she was really calm on the ball taking players on and turning defence into attack.

Thanks to all that came out to watch in horrible conditions and Kieron for running the line 👍
