A sunny weekend of racing at Locks Sailing Club! πŸ˜Žβ›΅οΈ

Friday evening gave us champagne sailing conditions β€” 6pm start, sunshine on the water and a steady 10 knots making for some brilliantly close racing. Huge thanks to OOD Tess and patrol boat team George and Jess for keeping everything running smoothly. A top night finished off the right way with plenty of beers in the bar! πŸ»πŸŒ…

Saturday saw our first low water race of the 2026 season with 9 boats on the line and another sunny day out on the Solent. Light to occasionally moderate southerlies kept everyone working hard, with plenty of tacking practice along the Eastney shore. Well done to everyone who got out there and a big thank you to OOD Jim in Diablo-J, with Jess and George once again on patrol boat support. πŸ‘β›΅οΈ

β›΅ Shakedown Weekend – 2026 Summer Season Begins! 🌞

A fantastic start to the 2026 summer sailing season with our Shakedown races over the weekend! We were greeted with bright sunshine and a light breeze – perfect conditions to get back out on the water.

It was great to see such a strong turnout, with lots of boats racing and some really competitive action across the fleet. 🏁

A big thank you to our Officer of the Day Martyn, along with Leigh, Dan, Harvey, and Jon in the powerboat for keeping everything running smoothly throughout the weekend – much appreciated! πŸ™Œ

🧹 Reminder: It’s the compound clean-up this weekend – all help appreciated to get everything shipshape for the season ahead!

A great end to the Frostbite Series yesterday with 9 boats out on the water enjoying some fantastic racing.

A big thank you to our Officer of the Day Hilary and the Patrol Boat team Sophie and Rupert for keeping everything running smoothly. πŸ™Œ

The series saw 14 boats competing overall, with an excellent turnout throughout the winter and only one race lost to the weather – not bad for a Frostbite Series!

πŸ… Prize giving will be held jointly with the Autumn Series on Easter Saturday after racing.

We now have a couple of weeks off for boat maintenance and preparation before Shakedown Weekend and the start of the 2026 Summer Season.

Plenty of action and place changes across both fleets, especially in the Fast Fleet where the lead changed hands several times.
The Medium Fleet saw another strong showing, with close racing all the way round the course.

What a fantastic first race of the Frostbite Series and New Year! We had sunshine, a good breeze with a few gusts and shifts, and plenty of big smiles all round. Huge well done to everyone who competed, and a big thank you to OOD Graham and our Patrol Boat team Bernice & Geoff for keeping things running smoothly.

After Saturday’s race was cancelled due to poor weather, the sun finally came out yesterday and our sailors made the most of it. Huge thanks to OOD Martin and our patrol boat team, Richard and Will, for keeping everything running smoothly.

Races 9 & 10 of the Autumn Series are coming up in 2 weeks (6th & 7th Dec) – make sure to mark your diaries! πŸ—“οΈ

What a fantastic evening at our Annual Prize Giving last Saturday in Portsmouth! After a brilliant afternoon on the water, we came together to celebrate this year’s achievements and our club’s proud 118-year history.

Huge congratulations to all our trophy winners for an outstanding 2025 Summer Season. Your skill, dedication and enthusiasm make our club what it is.

A big thank you to Bernice (Hon Secretary) and Jack (Vice Commodore & Master of Trophies) for presenting the awards, and to Christina for organising the clubhouse and food. And thanks to everyone who joined us for such a memorable evening!

What a fantastic day at the club on Saturday β€” classic autumn sailing conditions after a short postponement to let the wind build and settle. Huge thanks to OOD Hilary and the patrol boat team Dan and Harvey for keeping racing running smoothly, and the great pics! πŸ‘

After an afternoon of great sailing, we rounded things off with our annual Prize Giving β€” a brilliant celebration of the season and our 118 years of club history. πŸ†
