🌊 MEET SPINDRIFT 🌊

Meet Spindrift — our customer’s own Explorer Elite 165, the boat we’re currently putting through her paces during their RYA Powerboat Level 2 training.

But where does the name come from?

Spindrift is the salt spray blown from the crests of breaking waves during a gale or strong wind. 🌬️🌊

We think it’s a pretty perfect name for a boat that’s going to spend plenty of time exploring the water!

At Powerboat Training UK, we’ve been delivering training for 25 years. And while experience counts for a lot, there’s one thing we’ve always believed:

Every day is a learning day.

Every boat is different.
Every skipper is different.
And every day on the water brings something new to learn.

That’s why training on a customer’s own boat is so valuable. It’s not just about learning the skills required to pass a course — it’s about building the knowledge, confidence and practical experience to safely and competently handle the boat you’ll actually be using.

And after 25 years, we’re still learning too. Because the water has a wonderful way of teaching you something new every time you head out. 🌊

Ready to take the next step in your powerboating career and become an RYA Powerboat Instructor?

At Powerboat Training UK in Poole, we’re running our next RYA Powerboat Instructor Course from 21st to 24th September 2026.

Our instructor course combines practical, engaging teaching with a digital-first approach to the theory element of the RYA Powerboat Level 2 syllabus.

ONE SPACE NOW AVAILABLE - Poole w/c 14th Sept - Are you a commercial Skipper or a leisure user keen to operate at the highest level of radar and electronic navigation competence? If you are then you should be looking at our MCA Small Ships Navigation & Radar course. We run this course across both our Southampton and Poole bases and are now able (with approval from the MCA) to come and run the course at your home location. With our courses there was always a station per learner as we have always been of the view that doing so created the best learning experience and the best value for your investment. We’re delighted to see that the MCA shares this view and in their course update in July states a 1:1 ratio as a mandatory requirement. We are running another of our RYA Powerboat Instructor courses and need 1x people with no experience to come afloat and be taught by the trainee instructors under the guidance of Instructor instructors! Although, I was a little anxious, I had a lovely time. Both the trainee instructors and the instructor instructor, were enthusiastic, friendly and determined to ensure that I loved being on the water as much as they did - and I did 🙂 Now, how much money do I need to find to buy a RIB?
