Jamesboagyoga The Yoga of the Whole Human Being: http://www.jamesboagyoga.com/about.html

Sometimes in kirtan, I share a bit about the spirit of the song, what it's invoking.
It's rare these things get recorded, but last Tuesday these few minutes were.
I had recited the Lalita Sahasranama, and then we'd been singing together for more than 90 minutes.
Songs to Gaṇeśa, to Rāma, Sītā, Hanuman, Lakṣman, to Kṛṣṇa. And then we sang a song to Mother Divine, which I believe is a composition of Sam Garrett: I sing like the birds, I grow like the trees, I choose to live in love, I am joy, I am ease, Oṁ śrī lakṣmī mahādevī namaḥ, we walk softly on the earth in the light of your grace...

And then I was moved to share a few words.

Yoga is about re-membering.
It doesn't ask us to become anything we are not, just to bring ourselves into greater togetherness so we may remember who and what we really are.
It invites us to face the dismemberment and fragmentation we have become attached to, and work with the reality of our human nature to bring forth its fuller, truer expression.
We do have a natural predilection for beauty, for connection, for kindness.
All sorts of dispersing and draining influences conspire to our despair. But they will not prevail.
Life knows how to live, it always finds many ways to do so.
May we remember our capacity to live in beauty and kindness, with compassion and reverence.

NEW PODCAST EPISODE now live

To explore whole life yoga in practice, join me at Casa Cuadrau 20-27 June for a retreat to remember, a week of deep nourishment working with the elements.

Explore a principle-based approach to embodied practice.

Honouring and celebrating the gifts of embodiment to foster nourishing energy flow, efficient coordination and healthful movement patterns.

Integrating:
-the steadiness and strength of earth,
-the flow and vitality of water,
-the purification and insight of fire,
-the lightness and communication of air,
-so to support a space of greater ease, skill and joy.

Yoga for the whole of your life and for the whole of your human being.

We’ll explore powerful and accessible techniques very different from what many people typically associate with the word yoga these days:

- Subtle practices to connect, integrate and harmonise the elements inside and collaborate with our bodies and environments

- Playful practices to foster neurological renewal, help change obsolete patterns and liberate deeper capacity for coordination, lightness and efficiency

- Easy, powerful ‘do anywhere’ practices that actually cultivate mastery. ie: the more you do them, the less you need them. Yoga is about cultivating freedom not dependency.

A holistic, rounded week for the whole human being, in an unparalelled setting of revitalising natural beauty.

Integrating: Karma - The path of skilful action.
How to act with discernment and devotion so our actions become their own reward and their own completion, taking us beyond regret and shedding the burden of past patterns.

- Jñāna - The path of wonder, curiosity and honest inquiry.
With stories and illustrations from the classic texts of the yoga tradition.

- Bhakti - The path of honour, reciprocity and celebration.
With agnihotra fire ceremonies, prayerful meditative practices, kīrtan and songs of spirit.
- Sannyāsa - The path of walking more lightly upon the earth.
Learning how to ‘be walked’ and how to gently, steadily continue to shed obsolete egoic attachments and limiting false beliefs.

Special Kīrtan in Prague next Tuesday 24th March.
After the Whole Life Yoga Immersion Friday 20-Sunday 22, there will be this bonus event with me and Jimmy.
It is always especially lovely to sing with Jimmy and this will be the first time we have done so since 2019! And when we did that, more than one person described it as one of the most beautiful experiences of their life.
I cannot promise that, but what I can guarantee is that we will share the simple practice of heartful kīrtan.
As we give ourselves to sacred sound and sincere song, we invite connection at a place before, beyond and beneath any ideas that might divide us and experience the simple joy of co-creating harmony and beauty together.

It's at Energy Klub on Manesova number 11 in Vinohrady, 18:00-20:00, doors from 17:40.

You can bring cash contribution on the evening, suggested 300-600czk, or send a transfer in advance to account 2903347303/2010

When Kṛṣṇa describes the established yogin as being the SAME in gain and loss,, joy and sorrow, success and failure, it does not mean to be boring, mechanical or automaton.
Quite the contrary.
It means to bring the SAME DEPTH OF PRESENCE and HONEST INQUIRY, to look with the same diligence through all the ups and downs of life.
Life is pulsation, cycles, ups and downs, crests and troughs. We can ride the waves more easily when we fathom our depths.
The real practice is not the peak experience, but the integration back into the grounded depth of our being.

This is one of the things the Gītā teaches us.

It was super inspiring to begin the new Gītā course this last week with an amazing group from many different places and countries.
You can still join. All participants have access to all session recordings throughout the course and for a full year thereafter and we'll work steadily now with weekly sessions over the next three months.

Oṁ svasti prajābhyaḥ paripālayantām
Nyāyena mārgena mahīm mahīśāḥ
Go brāhmaṇānasya śubham bhavantu
Lokāḥ samastāḥ sukhino bhavantu

This peace mantra is one in the agnihotra verses I learnt at last year.

Like all Sanskṛt mantra-s, it encodes so much. So many layers of meaning.
One is the invocation of lokasaṅgraha - the wellbeing of the whole. This is one of the principles Kṛṣṇa teaches in the Bhagavad Gītà, how we can enact our dharma, express our gifts in such a way that it supports the cohesion and harmony if all of life.

I am looking forward to starting a new twelve week online course on the Gītā next week beginning 23rd February. Mondays in English. Wednesdays in French 18:30-20:00 Switzerland timezone. It's also possible to participate even if you are unable to join the live sessions.
All participants have access to all recordings and you can attend in either or both languages. The course also includes 5+ hours of video with the background story of the Mahābhārata and along the way participants will also receive notes and questions for reflection.
We'll work direct from the original Sanskṛt verses and consider the text as a whole with particular emphasis on it's practical application in our lives now.

New Bhagavad Gita online course starts Monday Feb 23 in English, Wednesday Feb 25 in French.
18 hour in depth study working from key verses of the original Sanskrit text.
12 weeks with a one week break at Easter.
Establish/deepen a living relationship with the time proven practical wisdom of the Gita.
Given on the battlefield, as the protagonist's world is falling apart, when the rules he has lived by are no longer adequate for the challenge in front of him, the Gita was made for the 'crucial moment' of times of change.
The Gita is a dialog, yoga is an ongoing inquiry.
The course will provide weekly satsang, a place to gather and explore what is through the lens of this extraordinarily practical and perennially supportive texts.
The course will be a unique offering, distinct from any previous course I have given over the last twenty years and any future courses.
All participants will have access to all session recordings throughout the course and for a year thereafter. The course portal also already includes 5+ hours of additional video content on the background to the Gita.
