For the final match of the season, Bayside Mer-Maids travelled away to Crofty for a fast-paced and competitive game that rounded off the season brilliantly, coming away with a fantastic 39β23 win.
At the back, Kat was her usual steady and reliable self at GK, bringing a calm presence to the defensive end. She constantly made herself available for the square pass in the defending third and was always an option for the reset ball when we needed to rebuild play patiently.
With Kelsea away, Lauren stepped into the GD role and did a terrific job. Growing in confidence as the game progressed, she produced some fantastic tips, interceptions and rebounds, really settling into the position and becoming a key part of the defensive unit.
Amanda, at WD, was relentless throughout the game, applying pressure all over the court and working tirelessly to disrupt Croftyβs attacking flow. Her determination, movement and defensive awareness were invaluable, and she linked brilliantly with Lauren and Kat to create a strong and hardworking defensive trio.
Through the middle, Kelly worked tirelessly at Centre, linking the defence and attack and feeding the ball down court with precision. She especially enjoyed delivering some long-ball passes into the attacking circle that kept the pressure on Crofty throughout the game.
Kelly R put in a tremendous shift at WA, playing the full game and providing a constant outlet in attack with her movement and determination. She was always available for the centre pass and helped the team transition smoothly through the court.
Stacey, at GA, was once again consistent and dependable, working hard to support the attacking play both in and around the circle. She created strong passing options and linked play effectively. Alongside her excellent link play, Staceyβs steady and reliable shooting added valuable goals at important moments.
And then there was Cathy, whose shooting display was simply outstanding! From all areas of the circle, the ball seemed to swish effortlessly through the net. Her accuracy and confidence under pressure made her the standout player on court, deservedly earning both Player of the Match and Opposition Player of the Match honours.
A fantastic team performance to finish the season β full of energy, teamwork and determination. Well done everyone! π
