For the final match of the season, Bayside Mer-Maids travelled away to Crofty for a fast-paced and competitive game that rounded off the season brilliantly, coming away with a fantastic 39–23 win.

At the back, Kat was her usual steady and reliable self at GK, bringing a calm presence to the defensive end. She constantly made herself available for the square pass in the defending third and was always an option for the reset ball when we needed to rebuild play patiently.

With Kelsea away, Lauren stepped into the GD role and did a terrific job. Growing in confidence as the game progressed, she produced some fantastic tips, interceptions and rebounds, really settling into the position and becoming a key part of the defensive unit.

Amanda, at WD, was relentless throughout the game, applying pressure all over the court and working tirelessly to disrupt Crofty’s attacking flow. Her determination, movement and defensive awareness were invaluable, and she linked brilliantly with Lauren and Kat to create a strong and hardworking defensive trio.

Through the middle, Kelly worked tirelessly at Centre, linking the defence and attack and feeding the ball down court with precision. She especially enjoyed delivering some long-ball passes into the attacking circle that kept the pressure on Crofty throughout the game.

Kelly R put in a tremendous shift at WA, playing the full game and providing a constant outlet in attack with her movement and determination. She was always available for the centre pass and helped the team transition smoothly through the court.

Stacey, at GA, was once again consistent and dependable, working hard to support the attacking play both in and around the circle. She created strong passing options and linked play effectively. Alongside her excellent link play, Stacey’s steady and reliable shooting added valuable goals at important moments.

And then there was Cathy, whose shooting display was simply outstanding! From all areas of the circle, the ball seemed to swish effortlessly through the net. Her accuracy and confidence under pressure made her the standout player on court, deservedly earning both Player of the Match and Opposition Player of the Match honours.

A fantastic team performance to finish the season β€” full of energy, teamwork and determination. Well done everyone! πŸ‘

A big thank you to Crofty for an enjoyable and competitive match, to our umpires, and to all our supporters who have travelled with us throughout the season and cheered us on every step of the way. Special thanks to Jane and Gabby for supporting the team as reserves - we appreciate you ❀️ and a big thank you to Laura for scoring for us 🌟

Although our coach, Andrea, was unable to be with us for this final match, we would also like to say a huge thank you to her for all her encouragement, commitment and support throughout the season ❀️

That’s a wrap on the 25-26 netball season.

Bayside Mer-Maids 28 - 23 Hayle 3

Bayside Mer-Maids delivered a strong performance at home, securing a hard fought 28–23 victory over Hayle 3.

Knowing they were up against the second placed side, the Mer-Maids came out with real determination and intensity. It was a tightly contested match throughout with both teams going goal for goal. The Mer-Maids managed to edge ahead at times, building small leads of three goals, but Hayle consistently fought back to level the score.

Heading into the final quarter at 20–20, it was all to play for. The Mer-Maids held their nerve, raising their game when it mattered most to pull away and take control of the closing stages.

It was a true team effort, with the attacking end showing excellent accuracy under pressure and the defence stepping up with crucial interceptions. A standout performance from Kat in GK earned her a well deserved Player of the Match.

Opposition’s players of the match went to Cathy and Stacey in the shooting circle for their fab shooting from all angles and clever thinking play around the circle.

The match also marked a bittersweet moment for the team, as they said farewell to their GD, who played her final game before heading off to Thailand. She will be thoroughly missed both on and off the court, and the team wish her all the best on her next adventure.

43 - 8 WIN πŸ–€πŸ€πŸ©΅

Full squad turn out last evening, so unbelievably proud of every player, what a performance.

Unreal shooting, relentless defence, incredible pressure, and next-level teamwork across the whole court. Intercepts, tips, rebounds, drive, you brought it ALL πŸ‘πŸ”₯

Special shoutout to Kelly Nicholls at Centre, last night was further proof of your faultless, tireless and technically ace play. Some of those cross court passes were like fireballs πŸ”₯ your timing for feeds was impeccable and you hunted the ball. Well done on receiving Coaches player of the match.

Kelsea you were recognised by Falmouth for your strong defensive play, you just have soooo much energy!! Timing on your jumps and interceptions was on point! Well done for receiving the Oppositions player of the match.

Well done to Stacey for stepping in as GK for the final quarter to allow Kat a small break for her knee, and Lauren a chance to show off her amazing shooting skills.

Mer-Maids - Proud doesn’t even cover it 🩡✨

Thank you to Jane for coming along to substitute and support us - we appreciate you ❀️
