Trelawny FC 4–3 Madron FC
Madron FC came out on the wrong side of a thrilling seven-goal contest at Nancegollan Playing Field, with the Badgers pushing Trelawny all the way in a game that could easily have gone either way. Despite the defeat, there were plenty of positives to take from a performance full of attacking threat, determination and fight right through to the final whistle.
The action started almost immediately, with Madron surviving a huge scare inside the opening minute. Kieran Noon raced out to clear, only for the ball to strike a Trelawny forward and spin dangerously back towards goal. For a moment it looked destined to cross the line, but fortunately for the Badgers it stayed out.
Madron soon began causing problems at the other end. On seven minutes, Kyle Furness was sent through on goal, but an unfortunate bobble just as he went to strike caused him to scuff his effort wide.
The Badgers' positive start was rewarded on 13 minutes. Quinn Chamberlain's initial effort was saved before Kyle Furness was denied with the follow-up, but Daniel Smith reacted quickest to the loose ball and tapped home at the third attempt to give Madron a deserved 1–0 lead.
Sennen Craig then came agonisingly close to doubling the advantage, curling a superb effort from 25 yards onto the crossbar.
Madron didn't have to wait much longer for their second. On 21 minutes, Daniel Smith turned provider with a through ball that released Kyle Furness, who fired home to put the Badgers 2–0 ahead.
Just a minute later, Kyle Furness was brought down inside the area and Madron had a golden opportunity to make it three. Kyle Furness stepped up to take the resulting penalty, but the Trelawny goalkeeper produced an excellent save.
That proved to be an important moment in the contest, with Trelawny reducing the deficit on 28 minutes courtesy of an excellent strike from around 30 yards that sailed over Kieran Noon and into the net.
Madron continued to create opportunities before the break. Ethan Bennetts was denied by a good save, with Daniel Smith firing the rebound wide on 42 minutes, before Kyle Furness was again sent through only to be denied by the Trelawny goalkeeper.
There was an unusually lengthy period of first-half stoppage time, and deep into the additional eight minutes Trelawny found their equaliser.
HALF-TIME: Trelawny FC 2–2 Madron FC
Trelawny almost took advantage of a defensive mix-up immediately after the restart, but the resulting effort went wide.
The following 15 minutes were evenly contested, with promising moves at both ends breaking down before either side could find the decisive final ball.
On the hour mark, Kieran Noon produced one of the moments of the match, diving superbly to push a goal-bound effort over the crossbar with a fantastic save.
Madron responded with another good attacking move as Sennen Craig played Kyle Furness through, but his effort went narrowly wide.
The hosts took the lead for the first time on 75 minutes, heading home from a corner to make it 3–2.
Madron's response was immediate as they began to apply increasing pressure. Quinn Chamberlain produced an excellent lay-off for Ronan Lewis, whose effort was well saved, before Sam Smith fired narrowly wide.
Quinn Chamberlain then saw a deflected effort go over the bar, while Isaac Donnithorne came agonisingly close with a 20-yard strike that flew just over. On 83 minutes, Daniel Smith was next to threaten, heading narrowly wide from a corner.
The pressure finally told on 86 minutes.
Ronan Lewis found the net to bring Madron level at 3–3, setting up a frantic finish at Nancegollan.
Unfortunately, barely a minute later Trelawny restored their advantage. A cross-shot sailed over Kieran Noon and into the net to make it 4–3.
Madron refused to accept defeat and threw everything forward in search of another equaliser.
Noah Tiddy, who had replaced Harrison Horner on 56 minutes, was part of a Madron side applying relentless late pressure. Daniel Smith fired narrowly over the bar in the penultimate minute before the Trelawny penalty area became the scene of a succession of frantic goalmouth scrambles.
Madron forced one corner and then another as Trelawny desperately defended their advantage. Another huge scramble followed, but somehow the hosts managed to keep Madron out before eventually clearing their lines.
Trelawny launched one final attack before the referee's whistle brought an incredibly exciting afternoon of football to an end.
FULL-TIME: Trelawny FC 4–3 Madron FC
A frustrating result for the Badgers, particularly after racing into a 2–0 lead and having the opportunity from the penalty spot to extend that advantage.
But there was plenty to take from the performance. Madron created chances throughout the afternoon, hit the woodwork, forced numerous saves from the Trelawny goalkeeper and showed tremendous character when the game began to turn against them.
Even after falling 4–3 behind so late in the contest, the Badgers continued to pile forward and came agonisingly close to finding another equaliser during a breathless finish.

A commanding performance at the back from Seb Pryke, who was solid throughout and never put a foot wrong. Calm, composed and dependable from start to finish, Seb produced an excellent defensive display in a fiercely contested game.
