MacMillan Cancer Support Fundraiser - Bobβs Commando Challenge! ππ»π΄π»π£π»πͺπΌ
A group of friends from Northwich will be heading to the Lake District to take on Bobβs Commando Challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Among the team are four current or former Northwich RUFC players β Dave Farley, Kirk Naylor, Joel Baker and Chris Eyres.
The challenge is being taken on in memory of Bob Fullwood, the father of their friend Scott Fullwood. After seeing first-hand the support Macmillan gave to Bob, Scott and the wider family during an incredibly difficult time, Scott and his friends have made this annual challenge their way of giving something back.
The challenge is not for the faint-hearted. The team will have to complete: A total of 57km, which will be made up of 12km canoeing Ullswater, 10km climb over Helvellyn via Striding Edge and 35km mountain bike ride around Thirlmere and over the Old Coach Road all to be completed within 12 hours.
As Scott has said:
βMacmillan provided support, guidance, reassurance and dignity β not just for my dad, but for all of us. At a time when everything feels overwhelming, they helped to carry the weight. Thatβs something I will never forget.β
Over the years, Scott and the team have taken on everything from a 24-hour Peaks Challenge to a 120-mile coast-to-coast cycle, raising more than Β£54,000 so far. This year, the aim is to push that total beyond Β£60,000.
Cancer affects so many families, directly or indirectly. Macmillanβs work provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support for people living with cancer and their loved ones when they need it most.
Any donation, big or small, would be hugely appreciated and will help Macmillan continue to support families affected by cancer.
