Advanced Core Skills
What a great first session back!

The players showed some really good skills as they were challenged with more pressure and game-like scenarios.

•Handling & passing under pressure
•Evasion & beating defenders
•Scanning & decision making in attack
•Recognising space and choosing the right option
•Executing skills at pace

There were plenty of positives to take from the session and some really good individual skills on show.

Now it’s about building consistency, making better decisions under pressure and continuing to develop those small details.

A really positive start back and plenty to build on!

These sessions are fully booked but there are still some spaces on the monthly core skills clinics starting Saturday 19th September.

Small details, big improvements.
These two players have been working with me through 2:1 sessions, focusing specifically on their scrummaging.

Alongside their individual sessions, they’ve also been attending our Scrum Safety sessions, giving them the opportunity to consistently work on the technical details that make such a difference.
We’ve focused on:
🔹 Body position and shape
🔹 Foot placement and stability
🔹 Binding and connection
🔹 Sequencing and timing
🔹 Creating a strong, controlled position
🔹 Building strength through good technique

The videos show something I talk about constantly with young players, progress doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from doing the small things better, consistently.

They’ve worked hard, listened, made adjustments and gradually built both their technique and their strength. The improvement across their sessions has been fantastic to see.

And that’s exactly why we focus on scrum safety before scrum power. Build the right habits, understand the technique and then develop strength and power around it.

📅 October Half Term – Scrum Safety Clinic
If your child is learning to scrum for the first time or simply wants to improve their technique and confidence, our October clinic is a great opportunity to get those foundations right. Link to book https://re-rugby-coaching.classforkids.io/camp/46

Rugby, teamwork & plenty of fun at L***y Glaze 🏉🌊☀️
A brilliant opportunity to play alongside my son and the boys I coach, swapping the usual training ground for sand, sea and some competitive tag rugby.

Some great rugby was played throughout the day, competing against plenty of adult teams and showing that these boys can hold their own when the challenge steps up! 💪🏻
The best part was everything around the rugby, team building, supporting each other, having a laugh and making memories together.

From the beach to the water and back onto the pitch, the boys embraced every minute.
These are the days that make coaching so rewarding.

HOW IT STARTED vs HOW IT’S GOING
A little throwback to some one-to-one scrum-half coaching from 6 months ago compared with where we are this week.

The difference isn’t about one big change, it’s the result of paying attention to the small details, understanding the technique and putting in the practice.

Small adjustments, repetition, consistency, practice.

Over time, those little improvements start to add up and that’s when you really begin to see the difference.

The videos show the progression that Euan has made throughout our session and the practice he’s been doing at home.

Practice really does pay off. 👏

Scrum Safety - Wednesday 26th August. The last session of the summer is the one I feel most strongly about because of the importance of safe techniques being learnt from a young age. For boys age 11-14, link to book https://re-rugby-coaching.classforkids.io/camp/33
