Late but Very Well Deserved!

We have a massive congratulations to pass on to one of our fantastic beginner karatekas!
Last week, Miss E officially graded and earned her brand-new Red Belt!

We know this announcement is a little bit late, but we wanted to make sure we got the wording just right. While we are keeping her full name private, we absolutely couldn’t let this achievement pass without giving her the recognition she deserves.

Miss E is already showing herself to be a brilliant little fighter with a fantastic natural talent for sparring. She trains incredibly hard, listens well, and has a very bright and prosperous karate journey ahead of her.

We are so proud of your hard work, Miss E! Keep training hard, and wear that new belt with pride.

KIHON KARATE STUDENTS:

Important Dojo Notice: Training Safely in the Heat! ☀️

Hi everyone,

We are **keeping the dojo open today**, but as you all know, it is incredibly warm out there! To make sure everyone stays comfortable and safe during training, we are temporarily relaxing our dress code for tonight's sessions.

* **What to wear:**

Students are very welcome to wear **shorts and a t-shirt** instead of their full Gi.

* **What to bring:**

Please bring **extra refreshments**. A single water bottle might not cut it today—make sure you have plenty of fluids to keep you going throughout the session.

# # # Staying Responsible During the Heatwave

While we love the dedication of our students, training in high temperatures requires a bit of extra mindfulness and responsibility. Please keep the following in mind:

* **Listen to your body:**

The heat drains your energy much faster than usual. If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or unusually fatigued at any point during class, **stop immediately** and let an instructor know. Pushing through the wall is great, but not when heat exhaustion is a risk!

* **Hydrate in advance:**
Don't just drink water *during* class. Start sipping water now so your body is fully hydrated before you even step onto the mat.

* **Look out for one another:**

We are a team. Keep an eye on your training partners today. If someone looks like they are struggling or overheating, speak up.
Let's look after ourselves and each other so we can get a great session in without any risks. See you all on the mat—stay cool!

🥋 New Orange Belt on the Prowl!

Huge congratulations to the newest 7th Kyu at Rhos Dojo!

Last Thursday, Ethan stepped onto the mats and absolutely crushed his grading. While a few "technical glitches" kept this news in the shadows for a few days, a performance this explosive couldn't stay hidden for long.

Ethan didn’t just pass; he dominated the floor with razor-sharp technique and unwavering focus. But the real test came during the kumite—Ethan showed true warrior spirit by taking on every single student in the class to secure his new rank. Talk about a gauntlet!

A cheerful, polite, and humble martial artist.
His dedication to the craft is evident in every kiai. He carries the full support of his Rhos Dojo family and everyone here at Kihon Karate Wales. Ethan, your journey is just heating up, and we are all incredibly proud of the martial artist you’re becoming. Keep that fire burning!

Huge congratulations to our five newest Red Belts at the Cimla Dojo!

What a night it was. Grading for a new belt is never just about the moves; it’s about the heart, and these five boys showed plenty of it this evening. From the moment they stepped onto the mats, their focus and "clever" spirit were on full display.

Stepping up to grade takes an incredible amount of bravery. It can be a daunting experience to stand in front of everyone and perform, but each of these boys rose to the occasion with confidence. They proved that they have the mental toughness and the "awesome" attitude required to progress in their karate

The highlight of the evening had to be the sparring! We quickly learned that this group is a wonderfully unpredictable bunch of comics. Trying to keep a straight face while they took on Sensei was the real challenge. Between their creative techniques and their infectious energy, they kept us all on our toes. It’s a reminder that no two gradings are ever the same, and it’s that unique spark that makes training at Cimla so special.

These boys have taken that first big step toward greatness tonight.

We at Kihon Karate Wales are bursting with pride. Each of you showed us exactly what it means to be a martial artist: being brave, staying smart, and having a bit of fun along the way.

Congratulations Alvie!

Tonight, the dojo witnessed the heart of a Spartan warrior in a young Karateka. Alvie graded for his yellow belt with a level of zeal that left us all inspired—he didn't just pass; he soared through with flying colors and a First Class Pass.
The confidence Alvie carries is like a sharp blade forged in a steady flame—focused, resilient, and unbreakable.

A huge "big ups" to Alvie’s #1 fan, Uncle Paul (pic 1 right)! Every great warrior needs a strong corner, and Paul’s support has been instrumental in Alvie’s journey.

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for Kihon Karate Wales.
Following an intense day of competition at this past Sunday’s Welsh Karate League tournament, we celebrate the remarkable success of our dedicated student, Sofia.

Sofia’s journey to the silver medal in the Kumite division was a masterclass in tactical ex*****on and perseverance. Her achievement is a direct reflection of her disciplined training regimen, which involves over four hours of focused practice each week.

At this elite level, success is rarely a matter of chance. Sofia has demonstrated an exceptional ability to:

Strategic Application: Transitioning theoretical knowledge into high-pressure combat situations.
