Legends Day 2026 ✨🏆
Once again, we had fantastic attendance from players and supporters who enjoyed plenty of good weather on Saturday when the two teams battled out a 1-1 draw in the 3rd annual match of Legends v Current teams at Colton Sports & Social Club.
🏆 Legends took the honours after a penalty shoot out when they scored their first 3 consecutive attempts from the spot without the Currents troubling the Legends net.
In an even game which was well officiated by Russell (who allowed some dodgy challenges to go unpunished & the game to flow), Legends took the lead on 13 minutes when Tom Whelan leapt salmon like to head home a Josh Naylor corner.
Currents equalised 8 minutes later when Oli Thorpe found the bottom corner with a rasping shot, following a delightful through ball from Dan Over, giving Chalky no chance. Both teams had further opportunities but couldn’t take them due to a combination of wayward shooting, solid defending and good goalkeeping from Chalky and Byrom.
Humongous thanks to Joe for buying the BBQ food which was expertly cooked by Welshy, Scott & Byrom who masterfully took on the chef duties. There were also suggestions that Potter helped, although there is no photographic evidence to confirm these 🍔👨🏻🍳
Following the BBQ, individual player awards for the 2025/26 season were presented and congratulations go to:-

Chris Wayman and Jordan Byrom (Man of the Match awards)
Here’s to next year, when the Current squad will be out for revenge! 🦉💪
