August’s WASPA

8 player tournament this week. Won by Bob beating Oakley in the final. The remaining fixtures contested the 3rd, 5th and 7th place play offs. Two groups of 4 contest a Round Robin before moving into the knockout phase.
It is a great way of running a WASPA as with each stage, everyone still has a game to play. So it is full flicking action with each of us playing 6 matches.

We have varying abilities at the club, and the more experienced players try to coach the new or returning players in order to improve their game. We want all our members to improve their game in order to create good competition whilst retaining the fun amongst us all.

At our club we currently play on Astro pitches but we are soon to have 4 brand new professionl tables with extreme pitches. We are very excited for this. We know there is a big difference between the surfaces and the weight at which you flick with. We think this will bring our individual game on further.

When we do get up to speed with our new pitches we would like to start visiting other clubs and inviting down those who are a similar standard as us, for some inter-club flicking.

Many thanks World Amateur Subbuteo Players Association (WASPA) for the work you do in collecting and administrating all the data, helping to keep this great game alive and flicking! We certainly enjoy it.

🎂Birthday celebrations were great at last weeks meeting. Cake, drinks and laughs.
Big welcome to Kevin who attended for the first time. Met the lads and within 5 minutes he is playing his first game of Subbuteo for years. Information overload for the poor lad. But a more welcoming set of fellas you won’t meet. Looking forward to our WASPA meet next week. A Round Robin of fixtures means plenty of game time and we all know the best way to learn is to play!
