Students of Karate will sometimes ask, what is the secret to success? How can I achieve my ambition?
Firstly, there is no quick shortcut. Anyone that suggests such a solution is doing so for an ulterior motive, in my opinion. Karate, like most martial arts, requires patience, perseverance and dedication.
However, I have put 3 'secrets' below that are fundamental to success, and i am sure other instructors would add to these, as I could, but these are not a bad place to start. Osu.
1. Turn up. If you are not present, you have already failed. There are times you may feel less inclined to attend. These are the times you must push yourself hardest. Just by being there, you are already on the road to success, while those that are not there are left behind.
2. Listen. Your instructor wants you to succeed. They will do everything they can to get you to your goal. Listen to what they are imparting. It comes from experience and knowledge, and they are providing it to you. Be like a sponge and soak it up.
3. Give 100%. Perform your best, all the time. Be the best version of you. Don’t compare yourself to others, compare your self to the yesterday you. This is how improvement is measured. Grades and belts will follow, but this is the true measure.
