Taylor McEwen has been working hard and following her gym programme consistently, and we're now moving into the next phase of her training for September's Static Monsters, Log and Deadlifts.

This clip from today's "All Things Sandbags" workshop shows just how much that work is carrying over into her Husafell carries. A few months ago, Taylor was picking the bag up from a keg to get it into position. Today, she's lifting it straight from the floor.

That's a huge sign of progress. Although Taylor doesnt need to or has inteneded to prep husafel for a comp, her strength, technique, and confidence has been built through her programme which are all transferring into event performance too - full-body strength, core stability, balance, and movement..The work is paying off. 💪

This goes to show, you dont need to train strongman specific all the time, every session.

Strongman isn’t just about being strong.

It’s not about ego lifting or throwing weight around for social media clips.

And it’s definitely not all about chasing 1RMs.

It’s about building real strength, strength mixed with power, conditioning, cardiovascular fitness, skill, technique, and the mindset to keep moving when your body wants to stop 💪

People see the heavy weights, but don’t always see the technical side behind it. Knowing how to move efficiently, conserve energy, stay composed under fatigue, and execute lifts properly is just as important as raw strength.

You need endurance.
You need explosiveness.
You need work capacity.
You need discipline.
And you need the willingness to keep learning and improving.

A huge part of strongman is being able to perform repeatedly under pressure, not just hit one big lift. It’s about carrying, loading, pulling, pressing, and moving awkward objects when you're already exhausted.

It also fits into day-to-day life more than you might realise. Strongman develops practical, real-world strength that carries over outside the gym. Something as simple as carrying all your shopping bags from the car in one trip, lifting and moving furniture, carrying your kids on your shoulders, or hauling heavy equipment at work all require the same kind of grip strength, stability, conditioning, and resilience that strongman builds.

One of the best parts of the sport is the community around it too. Meeting new people, making new friends, and having athletes competing against each other while still encouraging, supporting, and pushing one another to be better every session 👊

Midweek talk 💛

If your routine has completely gone out the window this week you’re not doing anything wrong.

We’re officially in that half-term midweek chaos where:

🤪 routines barely exist
🍦 snacks and easy meals are everywhere
🚗 days out take over the day
😴 everyone’s more tired than usual
🥵 and honestly… we’re all just trying to survive the heatwave too

That’s real life right now.

Instead of trying to “fix” the week or waiting for Monday, focus on the basics:

✔️ move your body when you can
✔️ get outside for some fresh air
✔️ drink your water
✔️ eat balanced meals where possible
✔️ stop trying to “make up for” anything

You do NOT need a perfect week to stay on track.

Half term, heatwaves, busy days, tired kids, disrupted routines… it’s all part of life.

Fitness shouldn’t only work when life feels calm and structured it has to work in the chaos too 🫶
