A gym membership. £20 a month.

A training app. £20 a month.

A nutrition plan from an influencer you’ve never met. £40.

An average PT who gives you the same programme as everyone else and spends the session counting your reps. £60 a pop.

Most people have tried at least one of these. Some have tried all of them.

And they’re still not where they want to be.

Because the missing piece was never the plan.

Most people walk into a gym, put their headphones in, and disappear into their own world.

Nobody checks if you’re okay.
Nobody notices when you’re having an off day.

Nobody reaches out when you’ve gone quiet. Nobody’s there to drag that extra rep out of you when you’ve got nothing left.

That’s not a knock. That’s just how most gyms work.

But this isn’t most gyms.

Walk through the door and someone’s already listening to your story.

Miss a session and someone notices.

Hit a personal best and the whole room celebrates it like it’s theirs.

That’s not a feature. That’s what belonging feels like.

What started as a workout has become coffees after class, runs through the marina, nights out, friendships that have nothing to do with the gym and everything to do with the people in it.

Debbie has been a member at Victory Lap since just after the pandemic.

She sat in her car before her first session, too scared to walk through the door.

She walked through it anyway. Now she wouldn’t be without it.

For a lot of people, that first step is the hardest part. It’s scary. It’s a place you don’t know, full of people you’ve never met. But it changes quickly. Usually within the first session.

People say they want to get fit. Lose a bit of weight.
Be more active.

But the thing most people are really after is somewhere they belong. Somewhere they feel seen.

Somewhere they can be themselves and spend an hour not thinking about work, the kids, or everything else pulling at them all day.

Because the missing piece for most people is connection.

You can work out at any gym. Follow a YouTube video. Download a training app. But that’s only ever one part of the bigger picture.

When you find a place you connect with, where people actually know your name and notice when you’re not there, somewhere you’ve found your people, that’s when getting fitter, stronger and more confident becomes the easy part.

She came in thinking it would be just another gym.

It wasn’t.

Leanne was putting the effort in. Showing up. Working hard. Seeing nothing for it. That’s one of the most demoralising places to be.

What changed wasn’t effort. She already had that.

It was real coaching, a proper plan, and a small group that actually gave a damn.

Now she’s lost weight, got stronger, and can finally keep up with the kids. People are noticing before she even has to say a word. Someone even told her she looks younger.

She didn’t know she wanted to be strong until she was.

Sean Hill. May’s Member of the Month. 🏅

7 months ago Sean walked through the door wanting to get fitter, lose a bit of weight, and supplement his football.

Competing in events wasn’t part of the plan.

Now he’s got Hyrox Barcelona under his belt and ATHX in August on the calendar.

What stands out about Sean isn’t just the effort he puts in during sessions. He takes everything on board, goes away and does his own research, and comes back having already applied it.

That kind of attitude is rare. And it’s exactly why he’s making the progress he is.

Massive congratulations Sean. We’re excited to see where this goes. 👊
