Your HYROX race day nutrition shouldn’t start on race morning. 👀

You wouldn’t wait until competition day to practice your sled pushes, running or wall balls.

So why would you wait until then to practice your fuelling?

A good race day nutrition strategy is something you train too.

You learn what breakfast sits well.

How much food you actually need.

How close to racing you can comfortably eat.

Whether caffeine works for you.

Whether you need carbohydrates during the race.

How much fluid you need.

And, importantly, what your gut can tolerate when your heart rate is high.

Because something being recommended doesn’t automatically mean it’s right for you.

The goal is to arrive on race day knowing exactly what you’re doing rather than standing in the start pen wondering whether that gel you’ve never tried was a good idea. 😂

Practice it. Learn from it. Adjust it.

Then when race day comes, nutrition becomes one less thing you need to think about.

So… what does a nutrition coach actually do? 👀

If you’ve never had nutrition coaching before, you might imagine being handed some macros, a meal plan and a list of foods you’re no longer allowed to eat.

That’s not what we want FPN coaching to look like.

We start by understanding you.

What are you trying to achieve?

What does your training look like?

Where does your nutrition currently struggle?

What does your working week look like?

What foods do you actually enjoy?

Then we start putting the foundations in place. One step at a time.

And importantly, we teach you why we’re doing it.

Because the goal isn’t to make you dependent on your coach.

It’s to reach a point where you can eat out, go on holiday, fuel your training, navigate a busy week and make changes to your nutrition with confidence rather than guesswork.

That’s what we mean when we talk about building habits.

Not a 12-week period of eating perfectly.

Skills you can continue using long after coaching finishes.

Are you actually eating enough to support your training? 👀

As your training load increases, your fuel needs increase with it.

But one of the most common things we see is athletes adding more sessions, more volume and more intensity without adding more fuel.

And eventually, you start noticing it.

Performance starts dropping.
Recovery takes longer.
Energy is lower.
Hunger increases.
Fatigue starts creeping in.

The first thought can be:

“I need to train harder.”

When sometimes the question we actually need to ask is: Are you eating enough for the work you’re asking your body to do?

Your nutrition shouldn’t stay the same while your training demands keep increasing.

Eat for the work you do. Fuel the work you want to do.

We build habits. Habits build performance. 🔥

Sunday doesn’t need to become damage control.

You ate out Friday.

Had drinks Saturday.

Didn’t train as much as usual.

Maybe meals looked completely different to your normal routine.

That’s life.

You don’t need to skip meals today, dramatically cut your food or promise yourself you’ll be “perfect” from Monday.

Just return to the habits you normally rely on.

Eat your usual meals.

Get some protein in.

Drink some water.

Get some fruit and veg.

Move if you want to.

And carry on.

One weekend rarely causes the problem.

The cycle of overdoing it… restricting… restarting… overdoing it again often causes far more difficulty.

A sustainable approach to nutrition shouldn’t require a fresh start every Monday.

It should give you something you can simply return to.

We build habits. Habits build performance. 🖤

THE RAINHILL TRIALS // FITNESS EVENTS ready. 🔥

A big good luck to two familiar faces taking on The Rainhill Trials tomorrow, Andy & Amy! 🤝

Usually you’ll find ANDY SHOOTS behind the camera capturing everyone else doing the hard work… tomorrow it’s his turn to get on the competition floor. 😂

And Amy Elmer has been putting in the work both inside the gym and with her nutrition through the FPN Everyday Program, so we’re excited to see her put it all into action.

Two Fuel Performance members.
One FPN Everyday client.
One FPN & FP cameraman temporarily relieved of his duties. 📸😂

Go enjoy it, give it everything and have a brilliant day.

The goal was never to have you rely on us forever. 🖤

Yes, we want our clients to see results.

To have more energy.
To train better.
To feel better.

But we also want them to understand why they’re doing what they’re doing.

Why we’re adding more food.

Why we’re changing their pre-training nutrition.

Why protein matters.

Why carbohydrates aren’t something to fear.

Why one meal, one weekend or one holiday doesn’t undo their progress.

Because good nutrition coaching shouldn’t just give you something to follow.

It should teach you the skills and confidence to eventually navigate it yourself.

And this testimonial sums that up perfectly. 🤝

Better training. More energy. More confidence around food.

But most importantly…understanding.

That’s what we want our clients to take away from FPN long after their coaching finishes.

We build habits. Habits build performance.

Competition prep looks a little different around here… 🛒

A successful trip to make sure the important stuff is covered before a big weekend at

Carbs ✔️
Fluids ✔️
Electrolytes ✔️
Plenty of easy-to-digest options ✔️

When you’re competing across multiple events, fuelling isn’t something you want to be figuring out on the day.

Having familiar foods and fluids available before, between and after events means one less thing to think about when it’s time to perform.

Nothing fancy. Nothing complicated.

Just preparation with a purpose. 🤝

Fuel the work. Recover. Go again. 🔥

Always good seeing our athletes putting all the work behind the scenes with their coach Callum into action on the competition floor. 🤝

You don’t have to compete at the highest level for your nutrition to matter.

This weekend, we’re showing you plenty of what nutrition support looks like behind the scenes with our Performance athletes competing at both WFP & Xenom.

Competition fuelling.
Recovery.
Hydration.
Food preparation.
Having a coach there to take away some of the decision-making.

But the principle behind all of it is the same whether you’re competing in Indianapolis or training at your local gym three times a week:

‼️ Your body needs to be fuelled for what you’re asking it to do ‼️

If you want more energy in your sessions, nutrition matters.

If you’re working towards your first pull-up, nutrition matters.

If you want to get stronger, nutrition matters.

If you’re constantly walking into an evening session having barely eaten all day, nutrition matters.

And if you simply want to feel better, recover better and stop guessing whether you’re eating enough…

Nutrition matters.

You don’t need an elite competition schedule to justify getting support with it.

That’s why we have our Everyday Program.

Individual coaching to help you create structure around your food, understand how to fuel your training and build habits that work around your life without tracking every gram or following a rigid meal plan.

Our September Everyday intake is open. 🖤
