If your times have stopped moving no matter how hard you train, you've hit a plateau. It isn't a wall. It's a signal.

The fix isn't more pain, it's structure. Periodise through base, build, peak and recovery. Add variety with hills, intervals, open water and bricks. And recover as deliberately as you train, because adaptation happens after the session, not during it.

If you've ever stopped 50m into an open water swim with your heart in your throat — you're not weak, and you're not unfit. You're a pool swimmer whose nervous system just met four new variables at once: dark water, a wetsuit, a crowd, and no walls.

The stroke isn't the problem. The setting is. And the setting is trainable.

Splash your face. Sight early. Wear the suit. Breathe out underwater. Start at the back. None of those are skills you're born with — they're skills you build, ideally before race morning.

The wetsuit you bought because it "felt right" in the shop is not necessarily the wetsuit that's making you fast in the water. Neoprene changes once it's wet. Your body position changes once you're horizontal. The suit that hugged you on land might be choking your stroke at sea.

Four things to feel for, in the water, before you commit: shoulders that rotate freely, a neck that seals without choking, a chest that lets you breathe deep, and a lower back that doesn't fill with water.

The fit isn't a vibe. It's a checklist.

Triathlon Monumental Nîmes 2026 🇫🇷
An unforgettable day, racing through one of France’s most iconic settings and sharing the experience with an incredible triathlon community.

This weekend, at the foot of the Pont du Gard, athletes dove into the Gardon beneath the arches of a 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct. Then onto the bike through the vineyards and olive groves of the Nîmois countryside, before a fully in-city run past the Maison Carrée, the Jardins de la Fontaine and the Tour Magne — finishing inside the Arènes de Nîmes themselves.

Zone3 was proud to support the very first edition!

🇫🇷 Hier matin, au pied du Pont du Gard, vous avez plongé dans le Gardon sous les arches d'un aqueduc vieux de 2 000 ans. Puis le vélo à travers les vignes et les oliviers de l'arrière-pays nîmois, avant une course à pied 100% intramuros — Maison Carrée, Jardins de la Fontaine, Tour Magne — pour franchir la ligne d'arrivée à l'intérieur des Arènes de Nîmes.
