FIRST EVER STRENGTH & CONDITIONING CAMP FOR UK ICE HOCKEY PLAYERS
---
Train Hockey Smart is proud to be partnering to St Mary’s University to host the first every Ice Hockey S&C Summer Camp in the UK. Open to youth athletes from 9-18 years old, the day camps will include:

-A full day of S&C education for Ice Hockey

-Learning to lift practical sessions

-Speed, agility, and power training workshops

-Classroom based injury prevention lessons

The following days are open for booking according to player ages:

MONDAY (31st July) & TUESDAY (1st August): 2010’s & YOUNGER

WEDNESDAY (2nd August) & THURSDAY (3rd August): 2009’s & OLDER

If PE teachings in schools were much more extensive, what would that do for childhood activity/obesity rates and what long term impact would that have on the collective demand on the NHS.

I believe that teaching about exercise, physiology and nutrition as a much more extension PE curriculum would have a hugely positive impact for the nations health long-term.

Government Guidelines for Activity:
150 mins (2.5hrs) Moderate Activity Weekly = ACTIVE

A week has roughly 112hrs awake time (7×16hrs). Therefore, 2.5hrs is only 2.2% of the time we spend awake.

Our bodies are not designed to be this sedentary.

Set low standards, see little progress.

Carol's damn good at squats.

As she ages she has made a conscious effort to do more physical activity.

It really shows in how well she can execute in our strength work.

My 61 father doing a few plyos at the end of our warm-up from last week's training.

Moves alright for a codger.

I have started mixing in a little plyo/speed work for clients of all manner of ages.

The ability to decelerate is so import for reducing injury risk, especially in older adults when injuries from trips/falls can be so detrimental.

Resistance Training Skill Competency (RTSC) is a term used to describe the technical ability someone has towards training.

If this is made the priority, youth athletes can start training at any age, the aim will be to get better at the skill of lifting weights rather than lifting as much as possible.

Then during important training windows like adolescent growth spurts, athlete strength will skyrocket, because they already possess the skill to train well and safely.

Tiago here is executing a pretty perfect TB Deadlift with 1.2xBW, only the second time using the Trap Bar. Well done!
