I see a lot of Officers failing to properly es**rt their prisoners into custody. Keep hold of them until inside and the cuffs are off. Stop handcuffing front stack unless you absolutely have to! Most forces have adopted policy that prohibits this now anyway.

In the UK, Officers rarely face a fi****ms threat, but imagine this is a knife. Officers should think about stacking up on the same side of the door to avoid being seperated or isolated by an armed subject.

There are some important take aways for British Officers here too. We tend to be far too quick to rush in to these situations. If you’re called to something involving a weapon inside a building, slow it down. Think about whether or not you have the right people there for the job at hand. Call everyone out of the building until only the suspect is left inside, or you’ve got your suspect. Breaching the door doesn’t mean you have to go in. The violence is getting worse and we have to start thinking more tactically.

Police Officers in London training Jiu Jitsu tactics in their own time before work. Today they practiced elements of our Law Enforcement Officer Foundation Course for 90 minutes.

On Wednesday, we held another seminar for newly appointed law enforcement officers in London.

The Police have always taken a lot of criticism in relation to using force. We aim to provide some realistic training, with useful techniques that avoid the need to resorting to striking detainees, and allow the Officer to experience what it’s like to be assaulted whilst doing their job, thereby training themselves to remain calm under pressure.

We did some basic boxing drills, some law enforcement themed takedowns, and some controlling of subjects on the floor.

Yesterday we ran a ‘New Law Enforcement Officer Preparedness’ Seminar.

19 newly appointed law enforcement officers committed to 3 hours of intensive training which included; defending themselves on their feet, taking a suspect safely to the ground, and safely restraining a suspect on the floor. This culminated in a number of scenarios where they had to deal with violent, combative or resisting subjects.
