As we enter the beginning of the end to another week, no matter how tough it has been, I urge you to take some time to let the unimportant things go. If it’s not important to the core of your life, then it’s not worth dwelling on, holding resentment, stress or anger towards… Let it go.

Easier said than done? Absolutely. Not everything worth doing is easy. But the effort might just be worth it when you think of how you could be feeling instead.

Life is too short to hold onto anything unimportant.

We all need a reminder to stop and breathe sometimes.
Whether you’re the type of person that reads into this as taking some deep breaths to calm or someone who reads it as taking a break - both are important!l and hugely valuable!

Remember this is important in busy times even if the ‘busy’ you’re experiencing is a positive one. It can still quickly lead to overwhelm if you don’t allow time to breathe.

Take some deep breaths, take a moment for yourself and experience some calm in the busy. This will help set you up for success.

Happy Monday everyone 🙌

After a couple of weeks away from social media I’m back just in time to see February in!

A positive mindset means welcoming in the new month with a fresh outlook. This is a mini fresh start. If January felt long and dreary for you as it does for many, take a breath and with the strongest will in the world let go of what you can. Whatever follows you into Feb, reframe as much as possible with a new outlook.

This will help set you up for success in the upcoming weeks.

You will need some self awareness to understand your own happiness.

Some people are happy when they have a clean house. Or when they get a peaceful moment to themselves. Perhaps it’s when they are surrounded by others. Or making progress in their education/career. Or relaxing with a book.

What specifically makes you happy?

How can you prioritise being happier in 2024?

If being happy feels like an unreachable target, working with a coach to understand a bit more about your inner thoughts and feelings and how to achieve happiness could be a great shout for you. Drop me a DM for some support and guidance on what that might look like for you.

What’s the first thing you focus on in this picture?

Imagine the trees are your challenges in life. They can seem thick and overbearing, blocking out the blue sky. The shrubs could be daily problems lining your walk.

But now look at the path.

Suddenly the trees don’t seem quite so obstructive. The walk seems a little more manageable and even somewhat nice.

This month as I focus on posts about happiness, I will be pointing out what may seem like some pretty obvious points. But these points tend to get lost when we apply them to ourselves so it’s important to remember them.

What does your path through the trees look like for the next month? If you’re struggling with it, drop me a DM and let’s talk about how coaching might be able to help.

Today was the first day of the year I sat out in the garden to enjoy the sunshine. It was cold, and a bit bleaker than the fresh greenery of spring provided but boy was it beautiful. I went back inside feeling refreshed and happy.

Top tip for Jan: It’s a hard month. Be on the lookout to find the happiness when and where you can.

As I approached London Waterloo this morning for a work event, the train attendant arrived on the internal speaker system to remind us of three things:

1. It is national cookie day.
2. It is also national suckling pig day.
3. Be kind to each other. No matter what, always be kind. Support each other. And don’t be alone.

He proceeded to invite anyone on the train who might be troubled and need a chat to go and have a cup of tea with him.

Despite a really great day, an amazing work event and spending time with some brilliant people… this still stands out as the star moment that truly made my day.

Well done Mr Train Man. And well done
for such an incredible hire.

How frustrating it can be to feel grumpy. Especially at a time of year where others appear to be happy.

To move away from feeling grumpy you can focus on 3 key things:

1) What specifically is causing you to feel this way?

It’s important to recognise the cause but not to dwell on it.

2) What would you like to feel instead?

Calm? Relaxed? Happy? Excited?

3) What one thing can you do to move you towards your desired feeling?

Simplifying the process helps.
It‘a not always a quick fix but a step in the right direction is better than sitting in a state of grumpiness, right?

Thanks for this response!
Ahh procrastination at its finest.

Most of us can say we’ve been there. Procrastination isn’t just reserved for when you DON’T want to do something. It can come along when you have lots of really great and exciting stuff on too.

Here’s a top tip to turn the tables on procrastination and use it in your favour: Use timed work intervals!

Without a light at the end of the tunnel it’s easy to find a task overwhelming. But with bitesize chunks of time those hurdles suddenly start to appear behind you.

Most people find that once they get started, they are already engrossed when the timer finishes and choose to carry on for longer. But even if you don’t, it still works wonders for getting things done.

The trick here is to allow only small blocks of time. 3-5 minutes max if you can. Take a 5-7 minute break and go again.

Of course the dream is to focus and get a task completed. But for some of us it simply doesn’t work that way. You might be thinking that 3 minutes won’t touch the sides. But across 1 hour you’ll have achieved anywhere between 18 and 24 minutes work making a dent in your to-do list that otherwise wouldn’t have been there!

You can get creative with your timers too:

Challenge yourself to organise the purchase of a single Xmas present in the adverts of your favourite tv show.

Stick on your favourite song and organise your calendar until it finishes.

My personal favourite is to pop the coffee machine on and get the dishwasher sorted in the time it takes to brew.

Make it fun. Just because we’re adults we still need mental stimulation, variety and fun to help us engage!

It’s Monday. Make it positive, set yourself up for success this week.

It’s a busy period for a lot of us, with only more busy heading our way. So on this Monday morning, ask yourself:

- What MUST I complete this week?
- How will I manage my time to achieve this?
- What conditions do I need to allow myself to keep focused?

Others will likely have a lot on their plate too. Without sacrificing any of the answers to your first 3 questions, have a think about this:

- What does my best support look like for those around me?

With this little slice of positive acknowledgement and planning, notice how your week moves and celebrate your wins!

Have a good one 🌟

Almost my entire page is filled with pictures of nature. That’s because for me, the outdoors helps me to maintain a positive mindset.

It’s not for everyone. But for me, it gives peace, tranquility and sometimes challenge but always reward.

I challenge you to think about what a healthy space looks like for you to really settle into a positive mindset.

The importance of sleep for a healthy mindset should not be underestimated.

The amount of sleep needed for each individual is slightly different. How much sleep do you need to be the best version of yourself each day?

Without sufficient sleep we can become lazy, make bad choices and our mental wellbeing can easily spiral.

Be kind to yourself. Get some sleep.
