This man is one of a few men that our junior contingent wont know but without Tony, we wouldn't be where we are today!

He is still at the heart and soul of our club, through the ones that still hold him in their thoughts, the ones that drive the club forward now, trying to always think... what would Tony say, what would Tony do. True legend! 🖤💛

🖤💛Respecting Our Roots💛🖤

Some people play for a club.
Some people support a club.
And then there are the rare few who become part of its very fabric.

This plaque was created for our Past Players Lunch so that those no longer with us could still be present in spirit — honoured, remembered, and seated at the heart of the club they helped build. This one belongs to Tony Rodgers.

Tony wasn’t just a player. He wasn’t just a captain, a president, or a supporter. Tony was one of the true pioneers of Gainsborough Rugby. Without him, the reformation of the club in 1974 simply wouldn’t have happened. Rugby in Gainsborough exists today because of people like Tony — people who believed in the game, believed in the town, and believed in the value of bringing people together.

He was respected by everyone who knew him. Not because of titles or achievements — though there were plenty — but because of the man he was. Even in his later years, Tony was always there. Always supporting. Always staying for a beer and a chat. Always making time for anyone wearing the badge. That’s the kind of respect that we try to teach in rugby, and Tony lived it every single day.

We could write for days about what Tony achieved for this club. His impact is impossible to measure and even harder to put into words. What matters most is that we remember him — properly, proudly, and often. Because men like Tony don’t just pass through a club. They shape it. They leave a legacy that lasts far beyond their playing days.

It’s important to remember the likes of Tony.
And impossible to ever forget them.

🖤💛 Sponsor Spotlight 🖤💛

Celebrating the partners who help our club grow is just as important as celebrating the players on the pitch, and today we’re shining that spotlight on Verbilly — a brilliant supporter of our junior section this season.

Their backing of our U12 Boys, U12 Girls, and U14 Girls has players the tools given our young, confidence, and encouragement to enjoy their rugby and keep developing week after week. It’s support that goes far beyond — it’s an investment a logo on a shirt in the future of our club and the next generation coming through.

We’re proud to have Verbilly as part of the Gainsborough rugby family. 💛🖤

The banner is UP!
West Lindsey Leisure Centre is now officially home to our Journey for Sophie – Event 2026 promo, and it looks class.

On 14 March, we’re taking on the full Six Nations stadium route — 1,430 miles of rowing, running and riding — all packed into a 12‑hour challenge to raise money for Sophie’s Journey. Add stalls, bouncy castles, rugby games and the Six Nations live, and it’s going to be a massive day for the town.

Big thanks to the leisure centre for the support & ultimate graphics for the banner!Give us a wave when you drive past!

And finally a huge thank you to our event sponsors Hailey Street Childminding & The Ship Inn Morton

Would like to say a huge thank you to Feeding Gainsborough for their support! For providing our club with gallons of water for our huge physical feat of a charity mountain, for Sophie's Journey. A massive 1430 miles by rowing, running and riding! 😅 our kid will now stay hydrated throughout the day, putting in the hard yards, and it's all thanks to you guys 💪🖤💛

☀️ While you’re waking up for your morning scroll…

Here’s a little reminder of something truly special happening in our town.

On March 14th, we’re taking on 1430 miles — rowing, running and riding between all Six Nations stadiums — all in support of Sophie’s Journey.
A huge challenge, an incredible cause, and a day packed with energy at West Lindsey Leisure Centre.

There’ll be stalls, bouncy castles, rugby games, the Six Nations on the big screen, and a brilliant community atmosphere from morning to evening.

If you can’t join us on the day, you can still make a massive difference by supporting the team through the donation link in the caption.

Let’s make this journey one Sophie would be proud of.
