Did you know that Gainsborough Trinity Football Club used to share the stage with two of the biggest names in world football?
Take a look at this Football League Second Division table from the 1899/1900 season.
Newton Heath (sitting 4th) changed their name just two years later in 1902 to become Manchester United.
Woolwich Arsenal (sitting 8th) dropped the "Woolwich" in 1914 to become the Arsenal we know today.
Other historic names include The Wednesday (Sheffield Wednesday), Small Heath (Birmingham City), and Leicester Fosse (Leicester City).
Did you also know that we are one of only two active non league clubs in the entire country that can boast hosting both Manchester United and Arsenal for league matches at their home ground in the same season?
Along with Glossop North End, we are part of an exclusive club. Turn-of-the-century football fans walked through the gates at The Northolme (now the Kal Group Stadium) to watch the Holy Blues take on the icons of the modern game.
In this particular campaign, Trinity finished a respectable 13th in the country's second tier, sitting comfortably above Middlesbrough, Barnsley, and Luton Town.
History runs deep at the ! ⚽️

A very interesting finishing table from the millennium year 1900. The Imps were in the 'Championship', known as the second division back then!
