The boys had a great day’s football. It was also good to have the 2018s and 2019s playing together in the same teams.. the bottle flipping in between games was impressive aswell 🤣

With only 5 days to go until the opening match kicks off, we at Forres Mechanics Youth Development bring you something different from the rest.

Have a go at predicting the scores of the Scotland and England group matches , final placings for each group along with answering 5 questions relating to the tournament outcomes to be in with a chance of winning!

All entries must be paid and forms returned by kick off time on the 11th of June at 20:00.

50 % of all entry money will go towards Forres Mechanics Youth Development , the remaining 50% will be split across 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Once all entries are in and confirmed we will total up and announce the prize pots.

Over the last 3 weeks we have had our open sessions as we look to recruit across the age groups for the season ahead.

In each session we had small sided games of 3 v 3 , 4 v 3 , 4 v 4 and a full size game of 7 v 7.

Lots of football and lots of touches 💪🏻.

These sessions were supported by the Network Rail safety campaign.

Another day another festival of football fun for our U10s Golds and Whites.

It was an earlier start in Aberlour for both teams with the small matter of 10 games to work through, we faced sides from Keith, Dufftown, Aberlour, Nairn, Auldearn and Buckie as well as an all Forres Derby thrown in for good measure.

The Golds were off to a tough start facing a few sides a year above but they gave it their all and battled well in the ever changing weather conditions.

They finally clicked into gear and started playing free flowing attacking football in the rest of the games scoring a range of goals and showing their strengths defensively, the lads did us and themselves proud playing the entire day with no subs!

The Whites started strong and continued that way throughout the day again showing just how well they have grown as a team this year.

They moved the ball about very well creating chance after chance helping themselves to a variety of goals from solo efforts to goals coming from combination passing moves.

Their defending was top notch giving opposition sides very little to work with and can hold their heads high after another positive day.

It was a long day but the boys from both sides again represented Forres well and finished off what was a fantastic weekend of action 💪🏻

It was a busy weekend for the U8s. We played at a festival in Grantown on Saturday organised by strathspey.

The 2019s were up first playing in a 5 aside festival, what a great morning they had.

Then the 2018s were up playing against strathspey, Keith and Dingwall lots of goals to celebrate.

Sunday seen us head up to Aberlour for a festival. We mixed our 2018s and 2019s together to make three teams. It’s great to see the younger players being involved with the older kids. It was a long day but it finished of a great weekends football. 👏

Day 1 of 2 this weekend for our U10s today with both the Golds and Whites heading for Grantown and a brilliant festival hosted by Strathspey.

We faced teams from Lossie , Elgin , Thurso, Nairn , Keith , Strathspey, Deveronvale and Rothes.

Each and every one of the lads gave a very good showing of themselves across all the games with positive forward play, resilient defending, brilliant teamwork and had a positive attitude throughout going home with big smiles on their faces!

Thanks again to Strathspey for hosting what was a really enjoyable days football 👏🏻

Next up is a trip to Aberlour tomorrow for another action packed day of games for our boys 💪🏻

It was the youth developments annual awards on Wednesday & Thursday this week at a packed Mosset Tavern Forres who put on a fantastic Buffet for everyone.

The U10s Golds and Whites were on the road again today, this time was a trip to Rothes for a festival.

It was a shorter game format today with so many teams in attendance meaning only 15 min matches across 3 pitches.

Our Golds were grouped with Strathspey Whites, Buckie , Turriff and Rothes.

The Golds started strong and fast creating numerous opportunities for themselves scoring some very good goals, this continued throughout the morning.

They again took the efforts from training to the pitch showing lots of control on the ball, passing combinations and composed defending!

Our Whites with the same format were grouped with Lossie 2016s, Elgin 2016s, Nairn and Strathspey Blues.

A tough test on the day for our 2016s with very strong opponents but they held their own, dug in and battled well as a team playing some lovely football leaving their coach very proud of the efforts across the team 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It was a great set up and brilliant mornings football for all the boys so thanks to all at Rothes for the invite 💪🏻

What a brilliant mornings football.
Excellent for the kids playing 3v3s so many touches of the ball, really competitive games definitely the way to go at the younger ages.

Thanks to 3v3scotland for coming up with their pitches the kids had a great time. Lots of goals and smiling faces…. It wouldn’t be U8s football without a few tears aswell. 🥲
