Sunday Soccer Club

Sunday Soccer Club Sessions have been running for over 20 years with them originating in Findhorn but now running in Forres.

The group is made up of friendly people who attend from all over Moray. Sessions are participation focused with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

This afternoon, Sunday Soccer Club held an in house game, with the squad split into two teams for a competitive and enjoyable occasion. The game also provided the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to two valued members of the club. Adolfo and Artem are sadly having to move away from the area due to work commitments. Both have been fantastic contributors to Sunday Soccer Club. They have continually brought commitment, enthusiasm and a great attitude to every training session and game.

The game itself was a closely contested battle from start to finish, with Team Artem narrowly coming out on top with a 4 vs 3 victory.

Everyone at Sunday Soccer Club would like to thank Adolfo and Artem for everything they have contributed and wish them every success for the future. You will both be missed and we hope to see you again whenever you are back in the area.

A huge thank you also goes to all of our players who contributed towards the farewell gifts. Your generosity and support helped make the occasion a special one. A special shout out to Forres Soccer 7s who kindly allowed us to use the goals and pitch at Grant Park.

This morning Sunday Soccer Club said an emotional goodbye to our pitch at Applegrove Primary School. It has been a fantastic home for our club and we have created so many special memories there over the years. While we are looking forward to our next chapter, we will be sad to leave a place that has meant so much to our players and families.

A huge congratulations to Jason Wright on being named player of the match yesterday. Jason made a fantastic impact both on and off the pitch. His energy seemed endless and his relentless work rate never dropped for a moment. What really stood out was his never give up attitude and the encouragement he gave the team at half time. The positivity clearly helped drive a much stronger second half team performance. At Sunday Soccer Club we pride ourselves on valuing players who show commitment, positivity and team spirit. Team selection reflects not just attendance but attitude. Jason is a perfect example of what our club stands for.

A big thank you to Jamie Alexander for kindly providing the medal and to Mind Hop Brewery for generously supplying a can of their delicious alcohol free lager.

There were plenty of positives to take away from the game today despite the result against a strong and well organised Dr Grays Football Club side. Sunday Soccer Club put in a solid team performance with everyone contributing across the pitch. We started brightly in the first half, unfortunate not to capitalise after missing a penalty and striking the woodwork. However, three late goals before the break gave our opponents the advantage. The response in the second half was excellent. The team came out with renewed energy, creating a number of chances and showing real determination. Credit also to the opposition goalkeeper who put in an outstanding performance with several top quality saves. The squad stayed disciplined and focused throughout and on another day the result could easily have gone the other way. We will regroup and go again soon.

A big thank you to everyone at Dr Grays Football Club for a competitive and respectful game. We wish you all the best in your upcoming fixtures.

Huge congratulations to Artem Mikitenko on being selected as captain for the game today. Artem is a constant presence at our Sunday morning sessions, regularly showing up early with a brilliant attitude and a real passion for the game. Artem leads by example whether that’s helping set up the pitch, staying behind to tidy up or putting in a shift wherever the team needs him most. Artem gives 100% effort every single time no matter the position. His energy, commitment and team first mindset make him an outstanding teammate and the ideal candidate to captain the team today.

Sunday Soccer Club are pleased to announce that the following players have been selected to play in the upcoming game against Dr Grays Football Club.

Kickoff will be at approximately 11:30 this Sunday. The game will be played at Pinefield Park in Elgin. Spectators are very welcome to attend and entry is free.

Everyone at Sunday Soccer Club would like to congratulate our rock at the back Robert Lafferty (aka Bob) on somehow convincing Kayleigh to marry him. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness (and Kayleigh a lifetime of patience).

A few of the lads made it to the big day and had an unreal time. There is still an ongoing debate about how Bob managed to scrub up so well. We can only assume it was a one off performance.

This morning we put our new portable goals to the test as we prepare for our upcoming venue switch.
