After a nervous first half, which saw balgonie come out the blocks looking to impress their home fans in their first game, they did cause a few problems in the opening 15 minutes of the game, but in all honesty it was the swirling wind that gave us the most problems, and as the half wore on we slowly took control, both teams missing a good chances but 1-1 HT 2nd half and almost total domination, and taking full advantage on the swirling wind and the tiring balgonie side. With some really nice build up play at times and some route one football. We really should’ve scored more than 4. FT 1-5.

Out of the Rex Gallagher cup at first time of asking. Proper makeshift back 4 and All 3 keepers missing. And it showed, even with that very disappointing as that’s no excuse. Credit to Gilmerton though punished us early on and we couldn’t recover. Special mention to the Vics ultras that made the short trip down the road. Not the start we hoped for. A harsh reminder to the team that the game goes to the final whistle and not just 90 mins. 1 up at HT which was probably deserved. 2 half a very dominant performance and in all honesty we should’ve been 5 up and away up the road with the points. But……but in added we switched off and conceded 2 absolutely atrocious goals. Credit to villa though for not giving up and taking advantage.
