On Sunday we had our annual competition with Morpeth, this year it was our turn to head down to the road, we had a couple hours when we got down there to stretch our legs, unfortunately the boats (which are always a hit with the swimmers) were closed due to the rain!

Morpeth took the win this time, but there were some brilliant swims, fantastic team spirit with everyone cheering each other on each race! Even louder when our coach Claire got in for a couple swims!!

We finished the day with some well-earned food — and even a special birthday celebration for Maebh, with everyone joining in to sing Happy Birthday! 🎂🎉 A brilliant day all round. Well done everyone! 👏

Thank you Morpeth for having us down, we look forward to welcoming you up to Portobello next year!

A team of swimmers, coaches and parent helpers are travelling to Morpeth for our annual competition with Morpeth Swimming Club today. This is always a fun and lively meet and we are grateful to Morpeth for hosting this year.

A great day was had by 7 swimmers at the North District Swimming Championships at Knockburn Sports Loch near Banchory. Arianna, Ruth, Rosemary and Alexander all competed for the first time and smashed their races. Great teamwork staying together on the team time trial as well. Results below. And the less said the better about Finlay (gently) shouldering his old man out of the way after the first lap of the 1.5k and leaving him for dead on the second lap! This was the last competition of the season. Anyone interested in swimming open water next year please contact Ali Smith.

Good luck to Fraser Bailey, Laird Brown and Matthew Sinclair who are in Lloret de Mar, Spain, with the U16 Boys National Development squad. The boys face opposition from around the world at the BWMF Water Polo Festival and will no doubt have an exciting and memorable few days. They are accommpanied by Porty coach Gregor Turner and Porty parent Dawn Bailey, who is running everything from behind the scenes along with fellow TM, Geraldine.

Porty takes SILVER at the BMC Cup Autumn Festival!

What a fantastic weekend of water polo at the BMC Autumn Festival! 🤽‍♀️🤽‍♂️
Our young Porty team got off to a flying start on Saturday, winning all three of their matches to finish top of the league table and secure a place in the top four. Comfortable victories over Celtic Dragons and Aberdeen were followed by an excellent win against a strong Dunfermline side.

And so, it was all to play for on Sunday!

The top four teams were evenly matched, and Porty were determined to improve on last year’s fourth-place finish. Six goals from Matthew in our semi-final against Menziehill helped secure a fantastic victory and, with it, a place in the BMC final!

The balcony at Carnegie was packed with support for the Portobello v Radcliffe gold medal match. It was a fabulous experience for our young team to play in a tournament final in front of such a fantastic crowd. While silver wasn’t quite the result we had hoped for, there’s no doubt that the strongest team won on the day.

Congratulations once again to Radcliffe on winning this year’s BMC Autumn Festival. 🥇

A massive thank you to Team BMC and all the volunteers for putting on such a superb event. It’s a brilliant showcase for our fabulous sport and a wonderful experience for all the young players involved.
