DSC GP14 Sailors continue to make waves!
Last weekend many of our DSC sailors competed in the GP14 Ulster Championships hosted by County Antrim Yacht Club, Whitehead.
In anticipation of the GP14 World Championships, which will also held on Belfast Lough later this summer, all the hot shots from all over the island were in attendance to get their eye-in. So it was very stiff competition across the 25 strong fleet.
This two day event, brought challenges on both days….
Saturdays onshore breeze brought swell across Belfast Lough, which made for difficult launching. After a postponement ashore, racing finally kicked off in the afternoon.
Sunday saw similar difficulty launching, but also much stronger winds, which saw many of the fleet capsizing and/or retiring early. A windy day indeed certainly tested their skills!
Congratulations to DSC sailors: Daniel Nelson, Adam Nelson, Steven Nelsonn, Jennifer Bryce, Fraser Menzies, Niamh Menzies, Max Hutchinson and Nathaniel McNaull for taking part.
But a special mention to Adam Nelson who came 3rd in silver fleet 💪
And to his brother Daniel Nelson who came 5th in the gold fleet.
