🏉 PRE-SEASON RUGBY IS FINALLY BACK

After weeks of cancelled games, rock-hard pitches and pretending training is basically the same thing, the Saddlebacks are finally getting some actual rugby.

A final chance to get some much-needed minutes in the legs before the league season begins — and find out who’s genuinely been keeping fit and who’s been surviving entirely on old fitness and WhatsApp availability polls.

Expect rust. Expect questionable lungs. Expect at least one bloke to claim he’s “never normally this unfit”.

Congratulations to Mark Greswell, our Trainer of the Month for August! 👏

Mark only joined the club this summer and has already managed the seemingly impossible task of training more consistently than people who’ve been here for years.

Turns up. Works hard. Doesn’t invent a minor hamstring issue when conditioning starts. An outstanding start to life at Devizes. 😂

For his efforts, Mark has been awarded a selection of protein goodies to help fuel the alarming enthusiasm.

A deserved winner. The rest of you should be embarrassed.

🏉 REVISED 1ST XV FIXTURES | 2026/27

Following the delay to the start of the season due to current ground conditions, our 1st XV campaign will now get underway on Saturday 26th September.

And we’re straight into it. 👀

We begin on the road against newly-promoted Combe Down, renewing an old rivalry, before welcoming Corsham to Devizes for our first home league fixture of the season.

Then it’s back on the bus…

🚌 4 of our opening 5 fixtures are away from home, with trips to Combe Down, Frome, Swanage & Wareham and Dorchester all coming before the end of October.

Plenty of diesel. Plenty of rugby. Hopefully plenty of points. 🍻

Our 2nd XV fixtures remain unaffected and their season will begin as scheduled.

🏉 Live rugby returns tonight!

Due to the current ground conditions, tonight’s planned pre-season friendly against Chippenham has been switched to a live training session.

Training gets underway from 6.30/7pm ish, and supporters are more than welcome to come along and watch the squad continue their preparations for the new season.
