First duck of the league season

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Cherhill Cricket Club, due to the loss of its home for nearly 30yrs, will no longer exist.
With a view to keeping the core team together and continuing into the future, Cherhill C.C will be absorbed into Avebury C.C and become Avebury 2nds. This was approved at the Avebury AGM on Friday 24th February after meetings between representatives of the two clubs. Thanks to Dom & all at Avebury for making us so welcome. For 2017 we (Avebury 2nds) will be playing our home matches at Kennet Valley Hall in Lockeridge.
Cherhill C.C would like to thank everybody for the messages of support since we announced the sale of the ground and also for the many memories from fixtures over the years. This page will remain open in memory of the club, the ground and, most importantly, the people so if anyone has pictures or memories to share please feel free to post them.
We look forward to seeing you in the coming seasons albeit under a new flag.

We are sad to report that after more than 25 years, Cherhill C.C are losing their ground. The property is sold (stc) and the new owner is going to turn the ground into paddocks.
The consensus of the committee & players is to continue as a club and actions are underway to find us a new home for the 2017 season and beyond.
If anyone has, or knows someone who has, a cricket pitch unused on Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings then please contact us. Alternatively if anyone has a spare £1m around, we may be still be able to high jack the sale, please check your lottery tickets.
On a more positive note, Carl joined us at the club house last night for an orange juice and is looking well after his dramas of last weekend. We were all very pleased to see you.
