Devizes Carnival was an absolute blast! This is the first time we have joined the procession in a decade and we absolutely loved it. Our club President, Roy, built a fantastic float that was joined by 25+ young judoka and parents (and a lovely labrador) around the streets of Devizes in front of literally thousands of people. Somewhere between 800 and 900 of our leaflets were distributed to the cheering crowd as we crawled around the centre of town (no change there then 😁). We were also lucky to be following an excellent samba band who were really energetic and extremely enthusiastic. A fantastic all-round effort by all the Devizes judo club family. The most surreal moment of the evening was seeing the Devizes Town Mayor fanning herself using one of our leaflets. If you have any photographs of the carnival, please post them below.

Wow, what a busy first night back! 30 Children in the first session and 13 junior and senior judoka in the second session. Nice to see some new faces at the club. The first session went through various ne-waza techniques and the second session dealt with tachi-waza. Erin was the judoka of the week in the first session but unfortunately we didn't get the photograph - she still took home the trophy though. 🏆 Well done, Erin.

Next session is on Monday: 6.30pm to 8.30pm for the 10 years to senior judoka.

2nd session- 10 to senior 7.30pm to 9pm

10 years to senior age 6.30pm to 8.30pm

10 years to senior age 6.30pm to 8.30pm

If you or your children want to come and train with us, the first session is always free. We take children from 5 years old up to adults of any age. On Friday 4th September we will be returning from our August break. We have had a lot of interest in our senior sessions over the last few weeks. Where else can you get a two hour training session for £6.25 (on the Monday and based on £25 per month)? If you have a child aged 10 or older and fancy getting on the mat yourself, why not train together? Bring a friend and train together? We now have senior sessions on both Mondays and Fridays. If you want to train on both sessions, we charge just £30 which works out at just over £2 an hour. There's 144m2 of proper judo tatami to train on, with qualified, experienced coaches 🥋 to teach you (you can see their judo CVs on our website). You will gain fitness, confidence and make new friends all whilst learning the Olympic combat sport of Judo. You will ache the following day though. 😁

We are a very family freindly club, which means if you have three or four children on the mat aged between 5 and 16, you'll only pay for two on our junior session..

Don't forget, we have our 6th Devizes Mini-Mon on Sunday 18th October. This is a great, entry level event into competitive judo. All children will be in a maximum pool of four, all participants receive a nice medal, however, the colour of that medal depends on the competitor 🥉🥉🥈🥇

Seend Fete, attended by over 1000 people, saw a demonstration by Devizes Judo Club this afternoon as we condensed a 1.5hr session into just 15 minutes. On our judo club stand we had our carnival float (yes, we're also doing Devizes Carnival next month) along with gazebo, leaflets and our own books. It was nice meeting up with a few old students at the fete, some from a very long time ago, well, the club is 70 next year!. A massive thankyou to all the club members on the demonstration and the many others who helped make it happen. A proper team effort!
