Strabane Afc Reserves 2 - 2 Ardmore

Ardmore began their 2026/27 NWJL campaign on Saturday with a draw in Strabane. The lads will be disappointed with the result after throwing away a 2 goal lead late on.

It was a very competitive first half with not much to pick between the sides and we headed into the break goalless. Ardmore started the second half brightly and took the lead swiftly through a composed finish from debutant Joe Curran. The lads doubled the lead soon after when Joe turned provider and set up PJ Ward for a tap in.

Things should have got better for Ardmore after Strabane were reduced to 10 men, but the home side managed to pull a goal back from the penalty spot with 20 minutes remaining. The equaliser then came with 5 minutes left, as a free kick was heavily deflected into the Ardmore net.

A draw that feels like a defeat and the lads will be itching to bounce back immediately. There were a lot of positives on Saturday, but lessons to be learnt also 💪

Unfortunately, our Irish Junior Cup game that was due to be played this Saturday has been cancelled after Finn Harps withdrew from the tournament. Please keep an eye on this page for any updates regarding a new fixture this weekend.

Next Saturday, 12th September, Ardmore make the trip to Newry to play against Finn Harps in the First Round of the Irish Junior Cup.

The bus will be leaving McCourt’s Bar at 9.30AM and returning later that evening. It is £20 to secure a seat. Please comment below or contact one of the club committee members if you are interested in attending.

Ardmore begin their 2026/27 NWJL campaign this Saturday as they take on Strabane Athletic Reserves! After the disappointment of finishing second last season, the lads will be itching to get off to a fast start and put in a statement performance 💪

Strabane is a difficult first test - a good young team who will be full of confidence after defeating Dungiven last weekend in their first league fixture. Ardmore have been putting the work in all pre season and will need to show their quality and fitness on Saturday to take home all three points ⚽️

Evening everyone!

Ardmore are running a Last Man Standing competition for the 2026/27 Premier League season. The entry fee is £20 and the winner’s pot will be dependent on how many people enter.

Rules:

⚽️ Pick a team to win before every round of Premier League fixtures (a group chat will be made where everyone can send in their picks)

⚽️ If your team loses or draws, you are eliminated from the competition

⚽️ Once you pick a team, you cannot choose that team again until the competition finishes

⚽️ If you do not pick a team before the fixtures commence, you will automatically be assigned the next team alphabetically

⚽️ The person who has successfully picked a winning team for the longest, is the Last Man Standing and wins the pot

The first Premier League fixture is next Friday, 21st August, as Arsenal take on Coventry. Please let us know if you would like to enter the competition by commenting below or reaching out to one of our club committee members 🤝

Once numbers are finalised, we will start collecting the entry fees and create a group chat. Best of luck to everyone involved!
