Ardmore 3 - 2 Lisahally Football Club
Ardmore are two wins away from retaining the NWJL after a dramatic victory last night against Lisahally. It was a brilliant game for the neutrals, but a nerve wrecking one for the Ardmore supporters!
The game started evenly, but it was Lisahally who took the lead midway through the first half. This goal woke the lads up, who upped their intensity, and the pressure paid off just before half time. Some brilliant work by Eoin McKeever down the left hand side resulted in the equaliser via an own goal ๐ค
Second half, Ardmore continued to push for a winner, knowing that a draw is not enough to continue their title chase. But fatigue began to set in for a team that is crippled with injuries at the minute. Despite this, 15 minutes from time, Oran Armstrong scored a trademark free kick to put Ardmore in front ๐
The drama wasnโt finished there. 5 minutes from time, Lisahally equalised and left Ardmoreโs title dreams in tatters. But the lads arenโt known to lie down, and in the 90th minute, PJ Ward scored a header from a corner to give Ardmore a last minute victory ๐ช
The celebrations on the sidelines last night showed just how important this win is. The lads have consistently shown their fight and determination over the past two seasons, and it was on full display once again last night ๐
