💜 LET’S LIFT THE CURFEW 💜

Around 90 people came together in Congleton tonight to support the message that women should be able to run without fear. What a night!

A huge thank you to for sponsoring the Town Hall hire, the Mayor for attending, everyone who came along, and The Bell On Mulnestrete for welcoming us afterwards.

It was lovely to see so many new faces, bring people together and hear such brilliant feedback about the evening. 💜💛

We hope to see some of those new faces out running with us again soon! Congleton Harriers is all about making running welcoming and accessible to everyone, whatever your pace.

🕰️ The clocks have gone back, and the evenings are darker. For many women, that means changing running routes, adjusting routines or avoiding outdoor exercise altogether.

But women shouldn’t have to change their lives because they feel unsafe. 💜

That’s why we’re supporting This Girl Can’s Let’s Lift the Curfew campaign.

Join Congleton Harriers this Thursday for a free community event, with a 5k run, 3k run or 2k walk. Everyone is welcome!

With the darker evenings drawing in, we’ve switched to our road routes for autumn and winter, but looking back at these photos has us reminiscing about those long summer evenings spent exploring the trails, soaking up the sunshine and taking in some pretty special views.

A little reminder of the sunnier days we’ve had, and something to look forward to when they roll around again. 🌞

LET’S LIFT THE CURFEW | CONGLETON COMMUNITY RUN & WALK

Congleton Harriers is proud to support Let’s Lift the Curfew, a national This Girl Can campaign highlighting the barriers many women face when exercising outdoors after dark.
We’re bringing the Congleton community together for an evening of movement and solidarity, and everyone is welcome!

🏃 5k run | 3k run | 2k walk
Open to all genders and fitness levels, and you don’t need to be a Harriers member to take part.

Please wear high-visibility or reflective clothing and bring a torch.

Afterwards, we’re heading to The Bell on Munlestrete for a social, and you’re welcome to join us!

Ian is always such a friendly face around the club. Hes got a heart of gold and always tries to welcome everyone to the harriers. Ian has had a difficult few years but that doesn’t stop him putting his all into his running and into the harriers behind the scenes and it doesn’t go unnoticed!

He is a great runner, a great person , even though he has had alot to deal with he is showing such courage getting out there and excepting his friends who want to help , well done In we all care about you.

So congratulations to Ian, a very worthy winner of the September award!

We are saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of Andrew. A huge loss to the running community. Well known to many of our club who regularly ran his races, volunteered at them or went in to get their shoes from the shop. Our love and thoughts go out to Andrew’s family and friends, as well as his Run North West family.

What an incredible evening our new kit launch was and a monumental step forward for the Congleton Harriers. Partnering with Scimitar as our new kit manufacturer and Runningbear as our kit distributor marks the start of an exciting new era for the club. Here’s to growth, community and a future we can all be proud of.

Ash has led the search for a new kit supplier for the club and has successfully found a new supplier of a new range of vests and t-shirts which club members are delighted with. He has also negotiated with Running Bear for them to take over the stock management and sales of the vests, which takes a big load off the club. He also was the main organiser of the very well received kit launch at Running Bear on Monday July 27th. He is a worthy winner of the HotM award for July.

So congratulations to Ash, a very worthy winner of the July award!

Richard’s running has gone from strength to Strength, his Marathon time was incredible, he came 3rd at the cloud summer. He’s also hit numerous 5k PB’s recently. He is a regular at parkrun pacing and marshalled at Passing Clouds.
