Last night the Under 11’s and Under 15’s both took on Rode Park & Lawton!

The U11s posted an impressive 110 runs, restricting RP&L to 84. The standout moment came from Minnii Simcock, who claimed four wickets in a single over, including a fantastic hat-trick! 🎩👏

In a top of the table clash, the U15s produced a brilliant all-round performance. After limiting RP&L to 112/4 from their 20 overs, we chased the target down with two balls to spare to go top of the league!

Another week of strong performances across the club made this a difficult decision, but this week’s POTW goes to John Copeland for his outstanding 1st XI performance against Checkley.

16 overs | 7 maidens | 6 wickets | 31 runs

JC wrote his name onto our senior honours board (6+ wickets in an innings) for the ninth time.

Week 8 Results 👇

The 1st XI dominated a game in which the home side showed remarkably little ambition to win in the 2nd innings and were happy to bat through 60 overs for a draw. With Checkley 9 down, the final scorecard was only given some late respectability by our attacking fields as we pushed hard for the last wicket. A dominant performance from the lads.

The 2nd XI continued their excellent league form with another impressive win, while the 3rd XI were involved in a real game of two halves and will be hoping to come out on the right side next time.

On Sunday, the 1st XI returned to Checkley for a T20 double-header, with 7 changes to the side and 3 debutants involved. While we always want to win, giving opportunities to our emerging players is just as important to us as a club, and we were delighted with the performances of Wilf, Isaac and Will.

In today’s 1st XI T20 double-header, we were delighted to see two of our juniors make their 1st XI debuts.

Both showed exactly why they are exciting prospects for the future of the club.

Against Wedgwood, Isaac (14 years old) delivered a superb spell of 4 overs, 1 maiden, for just 6 runs.

Against Checkley, Wilf opened the bowling and was trusted with the final over of the innings, claiming his first 1st XI wicket at just 13 years of age. In the same match, Isaac impressed again, taking 3 wickets for 14 runs.

Also congratulations to Will Peterson who made his debut and bowled with determination and fielded with class.

As a club, we couldn’t be prouder. This is what the Congleton pathway is all about… work hard, keep developing, and opportunities will come.

Congratulations, lads. A fantastic achievement, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for both of you!

5 senior matches this weekend as the 1’s travel to Checkley on Saturday and then return on Sunday for a T20 double header.

The 2’s host Porthill at Booth Street and the 3’s travel to Caverswall.

A huge congratulations to Simon Lightfoot on his maiden century for the club! Top work Sidge 👏🏼💯

Special mention also to our junior Wilf Nightingale, who stepped up to bowl the final over for the Sunday XI. With Elworth needing just 2 runs to win, Wilf bowled a wicket maiden to seal the win. Ice in the veins! 🧊
