MEET THE TEAM
Head Coach / Owner - Megan Bennington
Megan started gymnastics at aged 2 when her Mum took her along to "Tumble Tots" sessions. At age 11, she decided to swap clubs and disciplines becoming an Artistic gymnast at South Durham Gymnastics Club. She successfully competed at a regional level until she moved to Dumfries and Galloway aged 16. She began coaching at 14 years old, volunteer
ing with the younger classes and went on to gain many more qualifications within the sport. Currently, aiming to complete her L3 women's artistic qualification. She started Gymtastic in April 2015, with a handful gymnasts attending Saturday afternoon classes in a community hall. In January 2016, Gymtastic moved into St. John's Church and the gym has gone from strength to strength. There are over 200 gymnasts attend classes weekly at the church with pathways into Stewartry GC for any gymnasts who show potential to compete. Accolades include Stewartry GC being awarded "Team of the Year 2018" at the Stewartry Sports awards. Most recently Megan was awarded "UK Coaching Hero 2021" for commitment to coaching throughout the pandemic. Assistant Head Coach - Amber Need
Amber started gymnastics at the age of 4 and has been coached by Megan for many years. She has competed regionally for her school and performed as part of Display Team throughout the UK. Amber started coaching at the age of 14, through volunteering for her Duke of Edinburgh award. She has now completed many more qualifications, currently completing her L2 General qualification. Assistant Coach - May Lynch, Chloe Bryson, Amy Peacock. May recently passed her L1 course and is looking forward to expanding her knowledge further. As well as still training as part of the Stewart squads, the girls have been volunteering their time to help with the Gym Tots and Fundamental sessions. They hope to take part in their Learn to Coach courses next year and continue to build on their coaching knowledge.
