🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿English Open, Thetford; proper tests, strong performances. 🔥

Saturday saw us take a team to Thetford for the English Open for Minors & Pre-Cadets; a big step up in level and a brilliant test for our young fighters.

These are the kind of events that challenge you, sharpen you, and show where the next level is. Our players rose to it with some fantastic performances across the day.

🥈 Alfie Bernhardt – Minor Boys +73kg
🥉 Noah Harper – Minor Boys -50kg
🥉 Lexie Newton – Pre-Cadet Girls -57kg
5️⃣ Orla Spencer – Pre-Cadet Girls -52kg
7️⃣ Patrick Peak – Pre-Cadet Boys -50kg

A special mention to Patrick, who moved up to a new weight category and was involved in some absolute wars all day; showing huge courage and determination against bigger opposition.

Shout out to Lexie too, who after plenty of near misses throughout the start of the year finally got across the line to bring home her first medal in the -57kg category. A brilliant reward for sticking at it and continuing to improve.

Sometimes a medal; always a lesson.

Proud of every single one of them for stepping up, competing hard, and representing the club the right way. 🔥🥋

🥋⚫️ Black Belt Success at Leigh ⚫️🥋

A brilliant day yesterday at the North West Area Dan Grading at Leigh Judo Club as we took a team chasing the next level; and came home with two new Dan grades.

🔥 Seth Webster stepped up in style to secure his 1st Dan after winning his line out with 5 victories on the day. An outstanding display that included 4 ippon scoring throws and an arm lock submission win. Proper dominant judo when it mattered most.

🔥 Kitty Brennand then finished the job to earn her Dan grade, winning two contests by ippon to collect the final 20 points she needed. A fantastic achievement and fully deserved after all the hard work put in over time.

👏 Great effort too from Matthew Eglin-Staveley, who won his opening two contests to qualify for the line up and added another 20 points towards his own Dan journey.

👏 Gary Bentley & Ethan Cross also stepped on the mat and gave everything in a tough grading environment. No points this time; but respect to anyone willing to test themselves at this level.

Days like this are built on years of graft, consistency and courage. Proud of the whole team.

⛰️ DNA Judo Lake District Open Championships 🥋

Sunday 10th May ⛩️ Kendal Dojo

This one’s all about proper development judo.

We’ve teamed up with Kendal Judo Club to create an event that gives fighters the right environment to step on the mat, test themselves, and keep improving; without the pressure that often comes with bigger competitions.

Everything about the day is built around what actually matters:
• Meaningful matches
• Fair and appropriate groupings
• A supportive, positive atmosphere
• High-quality organisation from start to finish

Whether it’s a first competition or part of a longer journey; this is the kind of event that builds confidence, sharpens skills, and helps fighters understand judo properly.

No chaos; no mismatches; just good judo and the right environment to grow.
